1. Scope
This national standard specifies sampling and preparation of samples for the determination of chemical composition of pig iron, cast iron and steel. These approaches are respectively applicable to liquid state and solid state thereof.
2. Normative references
The clauses in the following files turn into the clauses of this standard by citation. For all the citation files that bear the dates, all the subsequent amendment documents(not including the corrected contents)or the revised edition are not applicable to this standard, yet, all parties that enter into an agreement according to this standard are encouraged to research whether the latest edition of these documents can be used. For all the citation files without a date, its latest edition is applicable to this standard.

3. Definitions
For the purposes of this national standard, the terms and definitions given in the following apply.
3.1 Chemical method of analysis
The analytical procedure of carrying out the chemical treatment on the sample to measure the chemical constitution in the sample
3.2 Physical method of analysis
Analytical procedure that uses the chemical treatment to measure the chemical constitution in the sample, for instance: photoemission spectra methods X fluorescent spectrometry.
3.3 Thermal method of analysis
The analytical procedure of carrying out the heat, burning or fusing treatment on the sample to measure the chemical constitution of the sample
