Road Vehicles - Requirements and Test Methods of Electromagnetic Compatibility
1 Scope
This standard specifies the electromagnetic emission limits, immunity performance and test methods for vehicles and their electrical/electronic sub-assemblies (ESA).
This standard applies to the vehicles of Classes M, N and L and their ESAs and can be referred to for the vehicles of Class O, etc.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 29259 and the following apply.
3.1
electrical/electronic sub-assembly, ESA
electrical/electronic equipment or assemblies which have related electrical connections and can implement one or more defined functions
3.2
vehicle wiring harness
power cables, bus system (e.g., CAN) cables and signal/active antenna cables, etc., installed on the vehicle
3.3
immunity related functions
several functions that affect safety, normal operation of power system, etc., after being disturbed, mainly including the following functions:
a) Functions related to direct control of the vehicles,
——by degradation or change in some equipment: e.g. engine, transmission, brake, suspension, power steering system, speed limitation device;
——by affecting the driver's position: e.g., seat or steering wheel positioning;
——by affecting the driver's visibility: e.g., dipped beam and windscreen wiper.
b) Functions related to driver, passenger and other road user protection, e.g., airbags and safety-restraint systems.
c) Functions which when disturbed cause confusion to the driver or other road users:
——optical disturbances: for example, incorrect operations of direction indicators, stop lamps, end-outline marker lamps, rear position lamp and light bars for emergency system, wrong information from warning indicators, lamps or displays related to functions in clauses a) or b), which might be observed in the direct view of the driver.
——acoustical disturbances: incorrect operation of e.g. anti-theft alarm, horn.
d) Functions related to vehicle data bus: for example, certain functions affecting the transmission of node-related safety function data.
e) Functions which when disturbed affect vehicle important indicators and statutory data, e.g., speedometer, odometer and tachograph.
4 Requirements
4.1 General Requirements
4.1.1 The vehicle and its ESA shall be designed, manufactured and installed in such a way that the vehicle can meet the requirements of this standard under normal service condition.
4.1.2 The vehicle shall be subject to radiated emission and radiated immunity tests. ESA shall be subject to radiated and conducted emission tests as well as radiated and conducted immunity tests.
Prior to test, the testing organization and the manufacturer shall jointly develop a test plan, which shall at least include the operating status, excitation function, monitoring function, criteria and intentional emission of equipment under test.
4.2 Limits of vehicle broadband electromagnetic radiated emission
4.2.1 If the 10m method is adopted, the radiated emission limits are shown in Table 1 and Figure 1.

4.2.2 If the 3m method is adopted, the radiated emission limits are shown in Table 2 and Figure 2.

4.3 Limits of vehicle narrowband electromagnetic radiated emission
4.3.1 If the 10m method is adopted, the radiated emission limits are shown in Table 3 and Figure 3.

4.3.2 If the 3m method is adopted, the radiated emission limits are shown in Table 4 and Figure 4.

4.3.3 For example, in the band of 76MHz~108MHz, if the signal strength measured by the average detector (bandwidth of 120kHz) at the vehicle broadcast antenna port is below 20dBμV, it can be regarded as that the vehicle meets the requirements for limits of narrowband electromagnetic radiated emission and does not need to be subject to further test.
4.4 Vehicle immunity performance to electromagnetic radiation
In more than 90% the band of 20MHz~2,000MHz, the field strength shall be 30V/m (root-mean-square value), and the field strength in the rest bands shall not be less than 25V/m (root-mean-square value). In the process of immunity test, the vehicles shall be free from any performance degradation in immunity related functions. See Table 9 for failure criteria.
