3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in QC/T 417.1 and the following apply.
3.1
diagnostic connector
a connector for communication between vehicles and external diagnostic equipment, short-term connection, live mating & unmating. It consists of two parts: the vehicle connector and the external test equipment connector.
4 General requirements for connector
4.1 Structure, shape and dimension
For the shape and dimension of the connector, see Figures 1 and 2; for the shape and dimension of the blade, see Figure 3. The connector contact mating shall be designed so that the signal ground and the chassis ground contacts of the connector make electrical contact prior to any other connector contacts making electrical contact. On the disconnect cycle, these same two contacts shall not lose electrical contact until all of the other contacts have been disconnected.
Dimensions in millimetres
a Access to the mating end shall be clear in this area for the connecting connector.
b The code identification of the vehicle connector contact shall at least mark 1, 8, 9 and 16, and shall be, at minimum, 1.3 mm and 0.1 mm raised characters.
c Access area dimension.
