This standard is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 22798-2009 Test method for fiber fall off of towel product.
The following main changes have been made with respect to GB/T 22798-2009:
——the standard name is modified;
——the Clause “Principle” is added (see Clause 3);
——the types of ballasts are modified (see 5.1.1; 3.4 of Edition 2009);
——the types of standard detergents are added (see 5.1.2);
——the number of samples when the mass of a single sample is less than 100g is increased (see 7.1.1);
——the requirements of "pre-conditioning" are modified (see 7.1.2; 4.2 of Edition 2009);
—— the amount of standard detergent used in washing is added (see 8.1.2);
——"Method B - friction mass loss method” is added (see 8.2).
This standard was proposed by China National Textile and Apparel Council.
This standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee on Household Textiles of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 302).
The previous edition of this standard is as follows:
——GB/T 22798-2009.
Test method for fiber shedding of towel products
1 Scope
This standard specifies the test method for fiber shedding performance of towel products.
This standard is applicable to various towel products with textile fiber as raw materials.

3 Principle
3.1 Method A - washing mass loss method: re-condition the sample after conditioning, washing and drying, and determine and calculate the mass loss rate of the sample before and after washing.
3.2 Method B - friction mass loss method: abrade the sample by Martindale abrasion testing apparatus, and determine the mass loss of sample before and after abrasion after the specified number of revolutions.
4 Test conditions
Environmental conditions for conditioning and pre-conditioning shall meet the requirements of standard atmospheres specified in GB/T 6529.
