This standard is developed according to the rules specified in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 3325-2008 Metal Furniture - General Technical Requirements and the following changes have been made with respect to GB/T 3325-2008:
——The scope is modified, and the inapplicable scope of this standard is defined (see Chapter 1; Chapter 1 in 2008 edition);
——Parts of normative references are modified;
——Terms and definitions given in GB/T 28202-2011 are added; and the terms "edge banding of wood-based panel" and "interface" and their definitions are added (see 3.7; 3.8 in 2008 edition);
——Provisions of "Chapter 4 Classification" are added (see Chapter 4);
——The dimensional requirements of book cabinet (file cabinet) are modified, the dimensional requirements of cabinet base board are added; and the dimensional requirements of bunk bed are modified (see 5.1; 4.1.1 in 2008 edition);
——The requirement and test method for depth of drawer are deleted (see 4.2 and 5.3.10 in 2008 edition);
——The height requirements of crator ripple on welded parts and those of wrinkle at the bend of circular tube and flat tube are deleted, the requirements for flexible and rigid covering parts are modified and changed to flexible covering parts and plastic parts, and the requirements for glass parts are modified (see 5.3; 4.3 in 2008 edition);
——The structure of this standard is modified, the contents of other requirements are reclassified according to the principle of standardized performance and included in the parts of appearance performance, physical and chemical performance, and safety performance respectively (see 5.3, 5.4 and 5.5; 4.4 in 2008 edition);
——Safety performance is modified and divided into structure safety, limit of harmful substances and combustion safety. Anti-drop requirements for push-and-pull members, clearance requirements for holes and anti-sliding requirements for vertically-sliding components are added, and requirements and test methods for volatile harmful substances are modified (see 5.4; 4.5 in 2008 edition);
——Glossiness requirements for coating on metal parts are deleted, requirements for resistance to cigarette burn of film coating are deleted, and wearability requirements for film are modified; requirements for pH value and color fastness of overlaid materials (textile fabric and leather) are added, and requirements for physical and chemical performance of glass and plastic parts are modified (see 5.5.1; 4.6.1 in 2008 edition);
——Technical requirements of desks, cabinets, chairs and stools are modified, and requirements and test methods for bunk bed are added (see 5.6; 4.7 in 2008 edition);
——The description language for accuracy is modified, and the test methods such as hole clearance and automatic folding are add (see 6.4.1);
——The requirements for calculation of acceptance coefficient are deleted (see 7.4 in 2008 edition).

General Technical Requirements for Metal Furniture
1 Scope
This standard specifies terms and definitions, classification, requirements, test methods, inspection procedures, inspection rules, marking, use instruction, packaging, transportation and storage of metal furniture.
This standard is applicable to the metal furniture product with the major structure made of metal. Other furniture containing metal member may also refer to the provisions of this standard.
