General Principles for Sampling Liquid Chemical Products
1. Scope
The standard specifies the terms and definitions, basic requirements, sampling plan and equipment, and operating method for sampling liquid chemical products.
The standard is applicable to the sampling of liquid chemical products with temperature not exceeding 100℃, and pressure at or near normal pressure; while it inapplicable to the sampling of those liquid chemical products with special requirements in their standard specifications.

For dated reference, subsequent amendments to, or revisions of, any of these publications do not apply. For undated reference, the latest edition of the normative document referred to applies.

3. Term and Definition
The following terms and definitions are applicable to the standard.
Spot sample
Spot sample indicates certain amount or size of samples collected from special parts of material or collected at intervals of the material flow, which represent partial or instant samples. See Fig.1.
Surface sample
Surface sample indicate the sample collected from material surface, for the purpose of obtaining surface data of the material. See Fig.1.
Bottom sample
Bottom sample indicates the sample collected from material bottom, for the purpose of obtaining the bottom data of the material. See Fig.1
Upper sample
Upper sample indicates a type of spot sample collected at the depth of certain material volume (like 1/6 total volume). See Fig.1.
Middle sample
Middle sample indicates the spot sample collected at the depth of half
material volume. See Fig.1.
Lower sample
Lower sample indicates the spot sample collected at the depth of certain material volume (like 5/6 total volume). See Fig.1.
Full level sample
Full level sample indicates the sample collected from full level of the container. See Fig.1.
Average sample
Average sample indicates the sample compounded with a group of spot samples to a scale. See Fig.1.
Composite sample
Composite sample indicates the sample collected from blending material by random sampling in container.
Sample container
Sample container indicates the container used for sample preservation and delivering.
Sampling device
Sampling device indicates the portable or fixed devices for sampling material.
