This standard is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 18319-2001 Textiles — Test Method for Thermal Retention with Accumulated by Infrared Ray in whole, and the following technical deviations have been made with respect to the GB/T 18319-2001:
— the test principle is modified: the light irradiation band is expanded from infrared band to various bands simulating sunlight; the light source is modified as xenon arc lamp; and the test indexes are modified as the maximum temperature rise value, average temperature rise value and the temperature rise value at the end of the test (see Clause 4);
— the sample size and quantity (see Clause 7), test procedures (see Clause 8) and calculation and expression of results (see Clause 9) are modified.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights. The issuing body of this document shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This standard was proposed by China National Textile and Apparel Council.
This standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee 209 on Textiles of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 209).
The previous edition of this standard is as follows:
— GB/T 18319-2001.
Textiles — Test Method for Solar Heat Storage Property
1 Scope
This standard specifies the test methods for solar heat storage property of textiles.
This standard is applicable to various textiles. Test methods for fibers and yarns made into sheets may refer to this standard.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
solar heat storage property
the ability of textiles to absorb sunlight from the environment, convert it into heat and retain it for a period of time to raise the temperature
3.2
irradiance
radiation power incident to a unit surface area
Note: Irradiance is expressed in g/m2.
4 Principle
Xenon arc lamp is used as light irradiation. The sample is placed under a certain irradiation intensity, and the temperature of sample changed due to the absorption of light energy. The sample temperature can be tested with a temperature sensor, and the temperature change at each time point of the sample shall be recorded within 10 min of irradiation and 10 min of light source closing. The maximum temperature rise value, average temperature rise value and test end point temperature rise value of the sample within 20 min can be calculated.
5 Apparatus
Solar heat storage tester is mainly composed of temperature sensor, xenon arc lamp, irradiance meter and temperature recorder (see Figure 1), which shall meet the following requirements:
a) Xenon arc lamp: short arc xenon lamp, wavelength 200 nm to 1,100 nm, color temperature 5,500 K to 6,500 K, can produce (400 ± 10) W/m2 irradiance at (400 ± 2) mm vertical distance from the sample center, and the irradiance shall be adjustable.
b) Temperature sensor: accuracy is 0.1°C; temperature sensor 1 is located in the center of the sample table, temperature sensor 2 is located on the side of test apparatus and not directly irradiated by xenon arc lamp.
c) Temperature recorder: it can continuously record the temperature every 1 min at least.
d) Irradiance meter: the measuring range is at least 0 W/m2 to 500 W/m2.
e) Sample bench and sample frame: PTFE material, sample bench size is (180 ± 2) mm × (180 ± 2) mm, sample frame width is (10 ± 1) mm.
