Specification for rubber and plastics tensile-testing machine
This standard refers to the international standard ISO 5895-1985 Description of tensile, flexural and compression testing machines for rubber and plastics.
1 Subject content and application scope
This standard specifies the structure, technical requirements, test methods and inspection rules of determining tensile-testing machine driven at constant speed, made from rubber, soft plastics and adhesives. However, some tensile-testing machines are only applicable to a narrower range of materials.
It is applicable to rubber and plastics tensile-testing machine (hereinafter referred to as testing machine). It may be used as a reference for tensile-testing machine of leather and other similar materials.
2 Structure
2.1 Main structure
2.1.1 The testing machine is mainly composed of a fixed member and a movable member, to which may be attached various types of grips and jigs for holding various test pieces; the movable member is power-driven and equipped with speed adjustable control; the testing machine has a force-measuring system complete with indicator and/or recorder. In addition, a device for measuring the deformation of the test piece is included. The movable members shall be driven smoothly, without obvious phenomena such as swing and impact.
2.1.2 The size and structure shall be such that the machine is capable of testing all materials for which it is intended to be used and has no features which may adversely affect the accuracy of the test results.
2.1.3 The movable grips and jigs of testing machine shall be capable of traversing a distance sufficient to accommodate the maximum elongation of the test piece.
2.1.4 The strain axis of the force measuring system and the axial line of the upper and lower grips or jigs shall be aligned and in the same direction as that of the applied force.
