This standard is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 8478-2008 Aluminium windows and doors. In addition to editorial changes, the following main technical changes have been made with respect to GB/T 8478-2008:
——"This standard is not applicable to explosion-proof windows and doors" is added in the scope (see Clause 1);
——"This standard may be used as reference for windows and doors for walls and vertical skylights that are not manually opened and closed" is deleted from the scope (see Clause 1 of 2008 edition);
——Terms "solar shading property", "shading coefficient of window" and "major load-bearing parts of profile cross section" and their definitions are deleted (see 3.2, 3.3 and 3.7 of 2008 edition);
——Terms "thermal insulating performance of windows and doors", "heat-shielding performance of windows and doors", "ordinary-type windows and doors", "sound-proofing windows and doors", "thermal insulating type windows and doors", "heat-insulating type windows and doors", "thermal insulating and heat-insulating type windows and doors", "fire-resistant windows and doors" and "resistance to repeat opening and closing for windows and doors" and their definitions are added (see 3.2 to 3.10);
——"Types and designations of windows and doors according to their functions" is changed to "Types and designations of windows and doors according to their main performance", and Tables 1 and 2 of 2008 edition are merged into Table 1, in which "solar shading type" is changed to "heat-insulating type", and "thermal insulating and heat-insulating type" and "fire-resistant type" are added (see 4.1.2 and Table 1; 4.1.2 and Tables 1 and 2 of 2008 edition);
——"The base material thickness of major profiles for major load-bearing frame members of external windows and doors (e.g., frame, leaf, combination transom and mullion) shall be determined by design calculation or test" is changed to "The nominal base material thickness of major profiles for major load-bearing frame members of external windows and doors shall be determined by design calculation and test" (see 5.1.2.1.1; 5.1.2.1.1 of 2008 edition);
——The requirements for the minimum measured base material thickness of major profiles are changed to the requirements for the nominal base material thickness of major profiles and the accuracy grade of permissible deviation, the requirements for the base material thickness of major profiles for external windows and doors are improved, and the requirements for the base material thickness of profiles for internal windows and doors and the accuracy grade of dimensional deviation are included; the requirements for the permissible deviation of non-wall thickness of base material for major profiles of windows and doors to be assembled are included (see 5.1.2.1; 5.1.2.1 of 2008 edition);
——"Thickness requirements for surface treatment layer of aluminum alloy profiles" is changed to "Application scope and thickness requirements for surface treatment layer of decorative finish of aluminum alloy profiles", and the application scope and thickness requirements of surface treatment layer are specified according to external and internal windows and doors respectively (see Table 4; Table 5 of 2008 edition);
——The provisions on the thickness of gas layer of insulating glass for external windows and doors and the permissible deviation of thickness of the single-cavity insulating glass are included (see 5.1.3.1);
——The requirements for sealed insulating glass unit with shading inside for external windows and doors are included (see 5.1.3.2);
——The requirements for glass of thermal insulating type, heat-insulating type, thermal insulating and heat-insulating type and fire-resistant type windows and doors are included (see 5.1.3.3 and 5.1.3.4);

——"Window and door frame width and height (inside)" and "Difference in opposite side dimensions of window and door frame width and height (inside)" are changed to "Window and door frame width and height" and "Difference in opposite side dimensions of window and door frame width and height" respectively, and "Diagonal dimension difference" is included (see Table 6; Table 7 of 2008 edition);
——The requirements for wind load resistance performance are modified, and the requirements for no damage to major load-bearing frame members under the action of 1.5P3 wind load that endanger personnel safety, the permissible deflection of glass panel being 1/60 of its short side length under the action of grading index value P3 of wind load resistance performance, and no damage to glass panel under the action of 1.5P3 wind load are included (see 5.6.1; 5.6.1 of 2008 edition);
——The required minimum water tightness of external windows and doors is included in the requirements for water tightness (see 5.6.2);
——The required minimum air tightness of windows and doors with air tightness requirements is included in the requirements for air tightness (see 5.6.3);
——The required minimum sound insulating performance of sound-proofing windows and doors is included in the airborne sound insulating performance (see 5.6.4);
——The required minimum heat transfer coefficient K of thermal insulating type windows and doors is included in the requirements for thermal insulating performance (see 5.6.5);
——The solar shading property and its grading (shading coefficient) are changed to heat shielding performance and its grading (solar heat gain coefficient), and the required minimum solar heat gain coefficient SHGC of heat-insulating type windows and doors is specified (see 5.6.6; 5.6.6 of 2008 edition);
——The requirement of "fire integrity" for fire-resistant windows and doors is added (see 5.6.7);
——The requirement of color transmission index of windows and doors with color discrimination requirements is included in the requirements for lighting performance (see 5.6.8);
——The requirements for sand and dust resistance performance are added (see 5.6.9);
——The requirements for impact resistance to windborne debris are added (see 5.6.10);
——The "impact resistance" of doors is changed to "impact resistance to soft heavy objects", the application scope is expanded from pivoted side hung type doors with glass area accounting for no more than 50% of the door leaf area to doors openable in various forms (see 5.6.11.3; 5.6.10 of 2008 edition), and the provisions on the impact direction and impact point of the door leaf are included in the performance test method (see 6.6.9.2);
——The requirements for mechanical performance, e.g., distortion resistance, diagonal deformation resistance, resistance to forced closing, impact resistance for opening limit, and static load resistance for positioning with stay arms, are added (see Tables 9 and 10 and 5.6.11.6 to 5.6.11.10);
——The "repeated opening and closing performance" is changed to "resistance to repeat opening and closing" (see 5.6.12; 5.6.9 of 2008 edition), and the grading requirements for resistance to repeat opening and closing for windows and doors are added (see Table 11);

Aluminium windows and doors
1 Scope
This standard specifies the classification and marking, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, product marking and accompanying documents, packaging, transportation and storage of aluminium windows and doors.
This standard is applicable to windows and pedestrian doors that can be operated manually for external walls and indoor partition walls of buildings and to vertical roof windows.
This standard is not applicable to skylights, non-vertical roof windows, rolling windows and doors, revolving doors, and special windows and doors such as fireproof windows and doors, explosion-proof windows and doors, escape windows and doors, smoke exhaust windows, and radiation shielding windows and doors.

heat-shielding performance of windows and doors
ability of windows and doors to block heat gain from solar radiation in summer, characterized by solar heat gain coefficient SHGC (total solar energy transmittance)
Note: Heat-shielding performance of windows and doors in summer also includes the ability to prevent heat gain from temperature difference caused by outdoor high temperature. However, because the heat gain from temperature difference is far less than the heat gain from solar radiation, the heat-shielding performance of windows and doors is mainly characterized by its solar heat gain coefficient.

b) internal windows and doors, designated as N.
