Graduations and test method for performance of exterior windows and doors, curtain walls impacted by windborne debris in windstorm
1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, graduations, test devices, specimens, test result evaluation and test reports respecting the performance of exterior windows and doors, curtain walls impacted by windborne debris in windstorm.
This standard is applicable to the graduations and tests for performance of exterior windows and doors, curtain walls impacted by windborne debris in windstorm. The test objects are limited to the specimens of building exterior windows and doors, curtain walls of, not involving the connection parts between the specimens and other structures. The windstorm protective system may be used for reference.
2 Normative references
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition(including any amendments)applies.
CB/T 7106 Graduations and test methods of air permeability, watertightness, wind load resistance performance for building external windows and doors
GB/T 15227 Test method of air permeability, watertightness, wind load resistance performance for curtain walls
3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
windstorm
air flow with a basic air velocity greater than 32.7m/s
3.2
windborne debris
objects carried by air flow in windstorm
3.3
resistance of windborne debris in windstorm
ability of a specimen to resist damage beyond the specified range after the impact of windborne debris and fluctuating pressure
3.4
missile
steel ball or wooden block used to impact a specimen
3.5
windstorm protective system
device installed, attached or fixed to the curtain wall and door/window system to prevent or reduce the damage which may be caused to such a system by windborne debris in a windstorm
4 Graduations
There are five grades according to the mass and impact velocity of a missile, which are taken as graduation indexes. See Table 1 for the index values.
