Instruction for use of consumer products — Labelling for detergents
1 Scope
This standard specifies the labelling forms, basic requirements, label content and labelling requirements of sales packaging for various detergents.
This standard is applicable to detergents sold and supplied directly to consumers in the territory of the People's Republic of China.
This standard is not applicable to detergents that are not directly supplied directly to consumers.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
detergents
product containing soap and/or surfactant with functions of washing and cleaning
Note: Detergents may be presented in any form (liquid, powder, mush, strip, block, sheet, etc.), which are sold in market for the purposes of families, public institutions or industries.

sales packaging
packaging delivered to the consumer with the contents for sales purposes

quantity, mass, or volume of contents excluding packing containers and other packing materials

shelf life
time limit for maintaining the product quality in the storage conditions specified in the product standard, during which the product can be sold and used, and meets the requirements for quality specified in the product standard
4 Forms
According to the product features and sales packaging forms, the following labelling forms may be selected:
a) Printing on the sales packaging of products;
b) Pasting on the sales packaging of products;
c) Attaching with the sales packaging of products;
d) Putting inside the sales packaging of products.
5 Basic requirements
5.1 Labelling shall be in accordance with the national laws and regulations as well as the requirements of corresponding product standards.
5.2 Labels and instructions shall be expressed in normative Chinese characters (excluding trademarks), and Chinese Pinyin (Chinese phonetic alphabet) or minorities’ languages or foreign languages may be simultaneously adopted.
5.3 The contents of the label shall be simple, accurate, scientific, true, legal, and easy for consumers to understand and master.
5.4 The instructions for use shall honestly introduce the products, and exclude the false, exaggerated, misleading or confusing contents as well as contents that may lead to misunderstanding on and belittle similar products.
5.5 Labels shall keep clear and easy to identify and read without being blurred or falling off during the product flow.
5.6 The national legal unit of measurement shall prevail in adopted unit of measurement.
6 Main labelling contents
6.1 Product name
In the conspicuous position of the sales packaging, the general name conforming to the product standard or the concise and easy-to-understand special name indicating the actual attributes of the product shall be clearly marked, and the general name that will not cause misunderstanding or confusion may also be used.
6.2 Trademarks
Trademarks shall be in accordance with the Trademark Law of the People’s Republic of China.
6.3 Name and address of the producer
The following requirements shall be met:
a) The name and address of the legally registered producer who is able to take responsibility for the product quality shall be marked.
b) The products with consigned processing shall be marked with the names and addresses of the commission and the commissioned units, or only with that of the commission units.
c) The imported products shall be marked with the name of the country or region of origin (regions refer to Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan of China) and the name and address of the agent, importer or dealer that are legally registered in China. The name and address of the producer may not be marked therewith.
d) Products administrated by laws and regulations such as license management are labelled according to relevant management regulations.
