This standard is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives for standardization — Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of standardizing documents.
This document replaces GB/T 18455-2010 Package recycling marking. In addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the following main technical changes have been made with respect to GB/T 18455-2010:
a) The application scope of the standard has been modified to add glass and consolidated packaging (see Clause 1, Clause 1 of 2010 edition);
b) The definition of “supplier” has been modified, the terms of “packaging component” and “complex packaging material” have been deleted, and the terms of “packaging material”, “packaging component” and “consolidated packaging” have been added (see Clause 3, Clause 3 of 2010 edition);
c) The description of recycling marking for plastic (excluding commonly used plastics) products and the definition of plastic packaging products made of single material have been added (see 4.3.2 and 4.3.3);
d) The “biodegradable plastics packaging recycling marking” has been deleted (see 4.2.2 of 2010 edition);
e) The recycling marking for "Ferrum packaging" has been modified, and the recycling marking for "steel packaging" has been added (see 4.4, 4.1 of 2010 edition);
f) The recycling marking for "glass packaging" has been added (see 4.5);
g) The determination method of the main materials in consolidated packaging has been modified, and the recycling marking for "consolidated packaging" has been added (see 4.6, 4.3 of 2010 edition);
h) The "specification and dimension" of the recycling marking have been added (see 5.2);
i) The "color" of the recycling marking has been added (see 5.3);
j) The “quantity” of the recycling marking has been modified (see 5.4, 5.2 and 5.3 of 2010 edition);
k) The "location" of the recycling marking has been added (see 5.5);
l) The requirements for “fabrication” of the recycling marking have been modified (see 5.6, 5.5 of 2010 edition);

1 Scope
This document specifies the types, basic graphics and marking requirements of the packaging recycling marking.
This document applies to the design, production, trade and recycling of packaging containers, packaging products or packaging components made of recyclable paper, plastic, metal, glass and composite material.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purpose of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.

operators who are responsible for packaging or packaging products put on the market or delivered for use
