This standard is drafted in accordance with the rules given in the GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 5373-2006 Measuring method of dimensions and masses parameter for motorcycles and mopeds. The following main technical changes have been made with respect to GB/T 5373-2006:
——GB/T 8170-1987 is replaced by GB/T 8170 (see Clause 2 of this standard; Clause 2 of Edition 2006);
——GB/T 5359.3-1996 and GB/T 5359.7-1996 are replaced by GB/T 5359.3 (see Clauses 2 and 3 of this standard; Clauses 2 and 3 of Edition 2006);
——GB/T 5359.5-1996 and GB/T 5359.6-1996 are replaced by GB/T 5359.4 (see Clauses 2 and 3 of this standard; Clauses 2 and 3 of Edition 2006);
——The definitions of “wheel center” and “axle load specific value” are added (see 3.1 and 3.5);
——The names of some measurement items are modified; the reference plane is modified into coordinate plane (see 5.1.1 of this standard; 5.1.1 of Edition 2006); the maximum usable length of vehicle frame behind cab is modified into the maximum usable length of chassis behind cab (see 5.2.1 of this standard; 5.2.1 of Edition 2006); the passing angle is modified into ramp angle, and the angle of inclination is modified into banking angle (see 5.2.4 and 5.3.4 of this standard; 5.2.4 and 5.3.4 of Edition 2006);
——The vehicle state at which the dimensional parameters are measured is changed from complete vehicle dry mass state to complete vehicle kerb mass state (see 5.1.2 of this standard; 5.1.2 of Edition 2006);
——The measurement requirements and related diagrams of motorcycles with sidecars are modified (see 5.2.2 and 5.3.6.3);
——The measurement requirements and related diagrams of “kingpin inclination angle” and “kingpin caster angle” are modified (see 5.2.4);
——The definition of “main vehicle camber” is modified into “wheel camber”, and the measurement requirements are modified accordingly (see 5.2.4 of this standard; 5.2.4 of Edition 2006).
This standard was proposed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China.
This standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee 114 on Automobiles of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 114).
The previous editions of this standard are as follows:

3.1
wheel center
intersection of the longitudinal center plane and the rotation center of wheel
3.2
optional parts
additional or optional attachments for the customer's choice, other than those for the basic motorcycle supplied by the manufacturer
3.3
standard parts
attachments used in the standard configuration of vehicle design and included in the basic motorcycle supplied by the manufacturer.
3.4
attachment
spare parts that act as auxiliary and do not affect the normal running of the motorcycle after disassembly [such as deflector, windshield, bumper, backrest, basket, front (rear) shelf, trunk, etc.]
3.5
axle load specific value
ratio of the axle load of each wheel to the complete vehicle kerb mass
4 Foundational measurement requirements
4.1 Vehicles shall be clean (free from oil and dirt) and fully equipped. The tire pressure shall be in accordance with the requirements specified in product technical documents.
4.2 Vehicles shall be statically placed on the supporting surface, in vertical state, and the wheels shall be in the straight running position. If there is a windshield, it shall be placed in the working position; in case of a retractable windshield, it shall be placed in the highest position. The doors and windows of right three-wheeled motorcycles shall be closed.
