This standard is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 18411-2001 Road Vehicle - Manufacturer’s Plate in whole. In addition to a number of editorial changes, the following technical changes have been made with respect to the GB/T 18411-2001.

—— 4.1 adds shape requirements of manufacturers’ plate;

Power-driven Vehicles Manufacturers Plate
1 Scope
This standard specifies the type, labeling contents, position and requirements of power-driven vehicles manufacturer’s plate.
This standard applies to automobiles and non-complete vehicles, trailers, motorcycles and mopeds, and tractors, wheel-type special-purpose vehicles, special-type vehicles composing tractor transport unit and other vehicles can refer to this standard.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purpose of this document, the terms and definitions established in GB 7258, GB 16753 and GB/T 21085 apply.
4 Type of Manufacturers’ Plate
4.1 The outline of the manufacturers’ plates shall be rectangular and may be rounded.
4.2 The size, the selected font and color of manufacturers’ labels shall be determined by the vehicle manufacturer, and the label content shall be clearly legible and easy to read.
5 Labeling Contents of Manufacturers’ Plates
5.1 Basic Requirements
5.1.1 The labeling content of the product label is divided into the compulsory items and optional items; the former ones shall be marked on the manufacturing products, while the latter ones can be marked on the manufacturers’ plate by the manufacturer as required.
5.1.2 The item name and labeling contents of manufacturers’ labels are separated with blank or colon, or labeled with form: the item with dimension shall be labeled with unit (e.g. Kg, r/min, km/h, kW, V, Ah, etc.), in which, the unit may be labeled together with item name.
5.1.3 The item name of the manufacturers label (except when “VIN” is used as the item name of the vehicle identification code) and the labeling contents such as the brand, manufacturer name, manufacturing country, etc. shall be marked in Chinese. If the foreign language is used for labeling at the same time, its content shall correspond to Chinese.
5.1.4 The labeling content of the manufacturers’ plates shall be subject to the actual state or value of the vehicle.
5.2 Specified item
5.2.1 The manufacturers’ plate shall be marked with the brand, the model of complete vehicle, the date of manufacture, the name of the manufacturer and the country of manufacture. Other items that various power-driven vehicle products shall be marked are shown in Table 1, see Table 2 for the labeling specifications.

a Battery electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles or fuel cell electric vehicle shall be marked with the drive motor model and peak power; power battery system rated voltage and rated capacity (Ah); type, volume and working pressure of hydrogen storage (for fuel cell electric vehicle); the car with the maximum design speed less than 70 km/h (except the low-speed cars, and passenger cars with passenger standing zone) shall also be marked with the maximum design speed.
b Passenger car and caravan may not be marked with the maximum net power and rotation speed of engine, while the engine displacement shall be marked; for passenger car with traction function, the maximum permissible traction mass shall also be indicated.
c For trucks and the special work car with total mass less than 1200kg, it is allowed that the maximum net power/rotation speed of engine is not indicated; for semi-trailer towing vehicle, the maximum design static load of fifth wheel shall also be indicated.
d For right three-wheeled motorcycle, the loading mass or passenger number shall also be indicated; for motorcycle with two wheels and moped with two wheels, it is allowed that the vehicle identification code is not indicated.
e For electric motorcycle, motor model, rated power and rated voltage shall be indicated.
