1 General Provisions
1.0.1 This code is formulated with view to strengthening the quality control and technical management of relevant materials and products applied in engineering structure strengthening and ensuring the quality and safety of engineering structural strengthening works.
1.0.2 This code is applicable to safety inspection and appraisal for the materials and products used in structural strengthening work.
1.0.3 The application safety appraisal conclusion of engineering structural strengthening materials and products shall be deemed as the basis for selecting engineering strengthening materials and shall not substitute the sample reinspection of strengthening materials and products carried out before entry into the construction site.
1.0.4 The application safety appraisal of engineering structural strengthening materials and products shall be undertaken by an inspection and appraisal agency of corresponding qualification approved by relevant national administration.
1.0.5 This code shall be used in combination with the current national standards "Design Code for Strengthening Concrete Structure" (GB 50367), "Design Code for Strengthening of Masonry Structure" (GB 50702), "Code for Acceptance of Construction Quality of Strengthening Building Structures" (GB 50550).
1.0.6 The inspection and appraisal on application safety for engineering structural strengthening materials and products shall comply with not only this code but also the current relevant national standards.
2 Terms
2.0.1 Appraisal
A series of activities carried out to verify the reliability (including safety, applicability and durability) of a strengthening material or product in the stressed process of the load bearing member in engineering structure.
2.0.2 Verification test
The test to verify if the property of a strengthening material or product complies with the specified requirements.
2.0.3 Sampling
Process of constituting a sample by randomly taking or under a certain rule.
2.0.4 Sample
The individual(s) taken by specified method from the population, to provide information about the population and severing as a potential basis for determining some characteristic of the population.
2.0.5 Characteristic value of a material property
The basic representative value of a material property. It shall be determined by a quantile, which normally is valued at 0.05, from the probability distribution of the conforming material property.
2.0.6 Substrate
Both the strengthening member and the original member in cementing work are adhered but they are different in property. For distinguishing, the original member or its adhered part is termed as "substrate".
2.0.7 Structural adhesive
The adhesive which is used for cementing load-bearing structure or member and can long term withstand design stress and environmental effect ("structural adhesive" for short)
2.0.8 Primer
The adhesive which is used for surface treatment of the strengthened structural member (substrate) to prevent surface contamination and improve the adhesive property of the surface.
2.0.9 Putty
The adhesive used for repairing and leveling the surface defect on strengthened structural member (substrate). To adapt to the operating conditions on the engineering structure site, putty generally is required to be capable of curing at room temperature and have no exaction to the adhesion surface.
2.0.10 Interfacial adhesive for structure
The adhesive used in engineering structural strengthening works to improve the bonding capacity between new and existing concrete or between existing concrete and new pavement, also known as concrete interface agent for structure.
2.0.11 Pressure injection adhesive for cracks
