1 Scope
This standard specifies the classification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules as well as marking, labeling and packaging etc. of road traffic signal controller.
This standard is applicable to road traffic signal controllers used on roads, and may also serve as a reference for road traffic signal controllers used on other places.

For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 31418 apply.
4 Classification and model designation rule
4.1 Classification
4.1.1 Classification by functions
Road traffic signal controllers (hereinafter referred to as controllers) are classified into three categories (A, B, C) according to signal control functions, as shown in Table 1.

4.1.2 Classification by installation environment
Controllers may be classified into indoor units and outdoor units according to installation environment.
Indoor units work in non-open environment such as indoor and outdoor chassis, and outdoor units may be directly installed in open environment.
4.1.3 Classification by usage form
Controller may be classified into fixed controller and mobile controller according to their usage forms.
4.2 Model designation rule
The model of controller includes function classification, installation environment, usage form, working temperature resistance grade and enterprise self-coding, as shown in Figure 1.

4.3 Designation rule of identification code
See Figure 2 for the designation rule of identification code of controller. The identification code is unique for each controller.

5 Technical requirements
5.1 Requirements of physical structural property
5.1.1 Appearance
The inner and outer surfaces of the controller cabinet and the control panel shall be clean and smooth, and shall be free of defects such as dents, scratches, cracks, deformation, etc. The surface of the cabinet shall have a firm anti-rust and anti-corrosion coating or paint layer, metal parts shall be free of rusting and other mechanical damage, the sliding or rotating parts shall move flexibly, the fastening parts shall not be loose, and the external surface of the cabinet shall not have sharp protrusions or corners that may cause damage.
5.1.2 Structural design of cabinet
The structural design of controller cabinet shall meet the following requirements:
a) The interior space of the cabinet shall be such sufficient to facilitate the heat dissipation, installation, use and maintenance of the controller;
b) The cabinet shall be designed to be rain-proof and minimize the intrusion of dust and harmful substances, and the cabinet and installation chassis shall be designed to prevent water from accumulating on the top;
c) The structure of the cabinet shall be designed to make the controller have sufficient mechanical strength, withstand the operation in the process of transportation, installation, handling and maintenance predictable under normal conditions, and not be easily opened by ordinary tools;
d) For the controller installed by basic forms on the ground, the main structure of the cabinet shall meet the requirements of Clause 4 of GB/T 19520.1-2007;
e) For the controller installed by basic forms on the ground, the size of mounting hole at the bottom shall meet the requirements shown in Figure 3 or 4.
