Packaging - Basic tests for transport packages Part 3: Stacking test methods using a static load
1 Scope
This part of GB/T 4857 specifies the main performance requirements, test procedures and contents of test reports of test equipment used for static load stacking test of transport packages and unit goods.
This part is applicable to assess the compressive strength of transport packages and unit goods during stacking or the protection ability of internal contents. It can be either a single test or a part of a series of tests.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purpose of this part of GB/T 4857, the following terms and definitions apply.

test specimen
a complete filled transport package or unit load
4 Principle
The test item is placed on a flat, horizontal surface and subjected to an evenly distributed load applied from above, using one of three methods. The load, atmospheric conditions, period of time under load and attitude of the test item are predetermined.
