Classification and code of waste batteries
1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification method, coding rules and code structure, classification and code of waste batteries.
This Standard applies to the recovery, recycling, treatment and disposal of waste batteries.
2 Normative References
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the dated edition applies. For undated references, the latest edition (including any amendments) applies.
GB/T 27610 Classification and code of waste product
GB/T 34695 Terminology of waste battery chemicals in treatment and disposal
3 Terms and Definitions
For the purpose of this standard, the following terms and definitions as well as those specified in GB/T 34695 apply.
3.1
waste batteries
batteries losing the use value and their waste elements, parts (components) and waste raw materials, including discarded batteries, discarded semi-finished products generated by during industrial process, as well as batteries losing the use value in industrial use, daily life or circulation field
3.2
batteries scraps
waste parts (components), waste pole piece materials, waste raw materials and other discarded materials during production of batteries
4 Classification Method
Waste batteries are classified into medium categories according to the source; while the medium category may be classified into subcategories according to different components. Battery manufacturing enterprises should put the 6-bit classification code of waste batteries in this document to the production code of batteries as the lead code so as to facilitate to recovery and recycling of batteries.
5 Coding Rules and Code Structure
5.1 Waste battery code consists of six Arabic numerals: the first and second Arabic numerals are the main category codes; according to GB/T 27610, waste batteries are classified into a main category (the code 13); the third and fourth Arabic numerals are classified into medium category sequence code; the fifth and sixth Arabic numerals are classified into subcategory sequence codes; for the classification code structure of waste batteries, see Figure 1.
Figure 1 Classification code structure of waste batteries
5.2 Medium category and subcategory are set up with collection item with the font of "Others". For the convenience of identifying, the code of collection item is "99".
5.3 When medium category and subcategory are no longer subdivided, "0" is added as the sixth one.
6 Classification and Code
6.1 See Table 1 for the classification and codes of waste batteries. For the classification of waste batteries and product examples, see Table A.1.
