Road Vehicles - Mechanical Coupling between Tractors and Semi–trailers - Interchangeability
1 Scope
This standard specifies the interchangeability dimension of mechanical coupling between tractors and semi-trailers.
This standard is applicable to the articulated vehicle with installation of 50 coupling pin complying with the requirements of GB/T 4606, and permits the same semi-trailer to be used with either two- or three-axle tractors. This standard is not applicable to low-platform or dump type or other special semi-trailers.
2 Normative References
The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this standard, constitute provisions of this standard. For dated reference, subsequent amendments to (excluding corrections to), or revisions of, any of these publications do not apply. However, the parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the normative documents indicated below. For undated references, the latest edition of the normative document referred to applies.

3 Interchangeability Dimension
3.1 Height of Fifth Wheel of Tractor
3.1.1 The height, h, of the fifth wheel coupling surface of a tractor under full-load condition above the ground (see Figure 1), shall be in the range 1,150mm to 1,300mm.
1——Reference level.

3.1.2 The height, h, of the fifth wheel coupling surface of a tractor uncoupled with the semi-trailer above the ground shall not exceed 1,400mm.
3.1.3 When the tractor tows container semi-trailer, the height h of fifth wheel coupling surface above the ground shall match with the height of longitudinal member at the semi-trailer coupling pin, and the total height of articulated vehicle equipped with empty container shall meet the requirements of GB 1589.
3.2 Front Turning Radius of Semi-trailer
Front turning radius R of semi-trailer shall not exceed 2,040mm (see Figure 2).
