This part is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This part has been redrafted and modified by adoption of ISO 1833-26:2013 Textiles - Quantitative chemical analysis - Part 26: Mixtures of melamine and cotton or aramide fibres (method using hot formic acid).
Compared with ISO 1833-26:2013, this part has structural changes, with the addition of Clause 3, and the numbers of the remaining subclauses are rearranged in order.
The main technical differences with respect to ISO 1833-26:2013 are as follows:
——the adjustments on technical differences are made for the normative references of this part to adapt to the technical conditions in China, which are mainly reflected in Clause 2 "Normative references”, with the following specific contents:
ISO 1833-1 is replaced by GB/T 2910.1, which is identical to the international standard;
——In Clause 3 “Terms and definitions”, the definition of melamine fiber is added.
The following editorial changes have been made in this part:
——Annex A (Informative) "Qualitative identification method for melamine fiber” is added;

1 Scope
This part of GB/T 2910 specifies a method using hot formic acid to determine the percentage of melamine fibers after removal of non-fibrous matter, in textiles made of binary mixtures of melamine fibers with cotton or aramid fibers.
This part is applicable to the mixtures of melamine and cotton or aramide fibers.
Note: Annex A gives the qualitative identification method for melamine fiber; Annex B gives the quantitative chemical analysis method for binary mixture of melamine fiber and polyester fiber, polyamide fiber or spandex.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purpose of this document, the following term and definition apply.
3.1
melamine fiber
fiber formed by cross-linked macromolecules composed of at least 85% (mass fraction) of melamine derivatives
4 Principle
The melamine fiber is dissolved out from a known dry mass of the mixture with hot formic acid (90% by mass). The residue is collected, washed, dried and weighed; its mass, corrected if necessary, is expressed as a percentage of the dry mass of the mixture. The percentage of melamine fiber is obtained by difference.
5 Reagents
5.1 General
Use the reagents described in GB/T 2910.1, together with those specified in 5.2 and 5.3.
5.2 90% (mass fraction) formic acid solution (density ρ=1.204g/mL at 20℃)
Dilute 890mL of 98%~100% (mass fraction) formic acid (density ρ=1.220g/mL at 20℃) to 1L with water.
Safety precautions: the harmful effects of this reagent shall be borne in mind, and full precautions shall be taken during use.
5.3 Ammonia, dilute solution
Dilute 80mL of ammonia (density ρ=0.880g/mL at 20℃) to 1L with water.
6 Apparatus
6.1 General
Use the apparatus described in GB/T 2910.1, together with those described in 6.2 and 6.3.
6.2 Conical flask with stopper
The minimum capacity is not less than 200mL.
6.3 Shaking water bath or other heating equipment
It is able to perform reciprocating or circular oscillation at a frequency of 160 cycles per minute, and maintain the temperature at (90±2)℃.
