This standard is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 18983-2003 Oil-hardened and Tempered Wire for Mechanical Springs in whole. The following changes have been made with respect to GB/T 18983-2003 (the previous edition):
——"GB/T 4336, GB/T 13298, GB/T 20123 and GB/T 20125" are added in Normative References;
——Grade "ultra-high tensile strength" is added in classification and designation;
——Diameter range is modified;
——New compositions of TDSiCr-B, TDSiCr-C and VDSiCrV are added in chemical composition;
——"Permissible maximum depth of surface decarburization" is modified;
——Mechanical property indexes of TDSiCr-B and TDSiCr-C are added in "mechanical properties of static and medium fatigue of wires";
Mechanical property index of VDSiCrV is added in "mechanical property of high fatigue of wire";
——"Permissible maximum depth of surface defect" is modified and description about acid leaching test method is added.
This part has been redrafted and modified adoption of ISO 8458-3: 2002 Steel Wire for Mechanical Springs - Part 3: Oil-hardened and Tempered Wire, which is not equivalent to ISO 8458-3: 2002 in consistency.
This standard was proposed by China Iron and Steel Industry Association.
This standard is under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on Iron and Steel of Standardization Administration of China (SAT/TC 183).
The previous edition of this standard is as follows:
——GB/T 18983-2003.
Wire for Quenched and Tempered Springs
1 Scope
This standard specifies the classification and designation, order details, diameter, shape and permissible deviation, manufacturing method, technical requirements, test methods and inspection rules, packaging, marking and quality certificate of wire for quenched and tempered spring (hereinafter referred to as wire).
This standard is applicable to the manufacture of various quenched and tempered carbon and low alloy wires with circular cross sections, which are used for various mechanical springs.
