Article 4.1 and Chapter 5 are compulsory and others are recommended.
This standard doesn't completely match Uniform Provisions on Safety Glazing Materials (ECER43-2000) of the Economic Commission for Europe. Major technical differences include:
---This standard has no provision on the plastic safety materials and treated laminated-glass.
---ECER43 states that the laminated-glass on the windscreen shall meet requirements on product head-form model impact and specimen head-form model impact tests.
This standard states that the laminated-glass of the windshield can meet only one of the said two head-form model impact test requirements.
---In this standard, the speed of the fire-resistance test on the plastic-glass composite is reduced to 100mm/min.
This standard shall replace the Safety Glazing Materials Used on Road Vehicles (GB9656-1996). Key technical differences compared with GB9656-1996 include:
---Explanations to terms in Chapter 3 have been canceled. All terms shall adopt the term standard concerning glass on road vehicles and road vehicles.
---No classification of A and B-class laminated-glass has been included. Both classes of glass are called laminated-glass.
---Zone tempered glass shall be used on the restrictively-applied windshield.
---Plastic-glass composites used on the windshield and others.
---Insulated safety glass used on objects beyond windshields is added.
---It is allowed that the autocar with the hourly speed lower than 40km/h can adopt the tempered glass to the windshield.
---Requirements on the quality of the original film used for producing safety glazing material for road vehicles have been provided.
---The high temperature resistance test, fire-resistance test, resistance-to-chemicals test on the plastic-glass composites has been added.
---Clauses on general technical requirements have been added.
