GB 18173 Polymer water-proof materials comprises four parts:
—— Part 1: Water-proof sheet;
—— Part 2: Waterstop;
—— Part 3: Hydrophilic expasion rubber;
—— Part 4: Rubber gasket for shield-driven tunnel.
This part is part 1 of GB 18173.
This part is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This part replaces GB 18173.1-2006 Polymer water-proof materials - Part 1: water-proof sheet.
The following main changes have been made with respect to GB 18173.1-2006:
—— some of the terms and definitions are modified and added (see 3.1, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 3.6 and 3.7 of this standard, and 3.1, 3.3 and 3.4 of Edition 2006);
—— the types, technical indexes and relevant detection methods of water-proof sheets such as self-adhesive sheets and special-shaped sheets are added (see 5.3.3, 5.3.4, 6.3.2.2 and 6.3.13);
—— reclaimed rubber (JL4) water-proof sheet material in the homogeneous sheet is deleted (4.1 of Edition 2006);
—— some physical property indexes of the homogeneous sheet and composite sheet are adjusted (see 5.3.1 and 5.3.2 of this standard, and 5.3.1 of Edition 2006);
—— the composite strength index and test method of FS2 composite sheet surface layer and core layer are adjusted (see 5.3.2 and Annex E of this standard, and 5.3.2 of Edition 2006);
In this part, the original standard is revised by reference to JIS A 6008: 2002 Roofing sheets of synthetic polymer and ASTM D6134: 2007 Standard specification for vulcanized rubber sheets used in waterproofing systems, and based on the production development and use demands of the water-proof sheet.

Polymer water-proof materials - Part 1: Water-proof sheet
1 Scope
This part of GB 18173 specifies the terms and definitions, classification and labeling, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transport and storage for polymer water-proof sheet.
This part is applicable to homogeneous water-proof sheet (hereinafter referred to as homogeneous sheet), composite water-proof sheet (hereinafter referred to as composite sheet), special-shaped water-proof sheet (hereinafter referred to as special-shaped sheet), self-adhesive water-proof sheet (hereinafter referred to as self-adhesive sheet), material with point (strip) adhesion sheet and the like, which are mainly made of polymer materials, produced by extrusion or calendering methods, and used for water-proofing, seepage-proofing, moisture-proofing, gas barrier, contamination-proofing, and drainage in various engineering.

3 Terms and definitions

4.2 Product labeling
4.2.1 Labeling method
The product shall be labeled in the sequence below, and the labeling contents may be added as required:
Type code, material (abbreviation or code), and specification (length x width x thickness). The height of the shell added to the special-shaped sheet.
4.2.2 Labeling examples
Homogeneous sheet: vulcanized ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) sheet with a length of 20.0 m, a width of 1.0 m and a thickness of 1.2 mm is labelled as JL 1-EPDM-20.0 m× 1.0 m× 1.2 mm.
Special-shaped sheet: high density polyethylene water-proof and drainage sheet with a length of 20.0 m, a width of 2.0 m, a thickness of 0.8 mm, and a shell height of 8 mm is marked as YS-HDPE-20.0 m×2.0 m×0.8 mm×8 mm.
5 Requirements
5.1 Specification and dimension
The specification and dimension, and tolerance of the water-proof sheet are shown in Tables 2 and 3. The special specifications shall be agreed upon by both parties.

a Rubber sheet is allowed to have a joint in 20 m length of each roll, and the minimum joint length shall be greater than 3 m, and shall be lengthened by 15 cm for overlapping; resin sheet is not allowed to have joints within at least 20 m of each roll; self-adhesive sheets and special-shaped sheets are not allowed to have joints within 10 m of each roll.

5.2 Appearance quality
5.2.1 The surface of the sheet shall be smooth and free of impurities, mechanical damages, creases, abnormal adhesion and other defects that affect the service property.
5.2.2 Under the condition that the application is not affected, the surface defects of the sheet shall meet the following requirements:
a) the concave depth of the rubber sheet shall not exceed 20% of the thickness of the sheet, and that of the resin sheet shall not exceed 5%;
b) the bubble depth of the rubber sheet shall not exceed 20% of the thickness of the sheet, and the bubble area shall not exceed 7 mm2 within 1 m2 sheet; the bubbles are not allowed on resin sheet.
5.2.3 The surface of the special-shaped sheet shall have neat edges, and be free of cracks, holes, adhesion, bubbles, scars and other mechanical damage defects.
