3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 9195-2011 and the following apply. For the convenience of application, some terms and definitions in GB/T 9195-2011 are re-listed as follows.
3.1
Ceramic tile
The architectural ceramic slab or block mainly made from clay, feldspar and quartz, generally used for covering floors and walls.
[GB/T 9195-2011, as defined in 3.1.1]
3.2
Glaze
The material which is applied on the body surface after preparation and processing and is formed into glass layer or the glass-crystal mixing layer after fusion for covering and decoration.
[GB/T 9195-2011, as defined in 4.2]
3.3
Engobed surface
Glaze incompletely vitrified or vitrified after firing which is applied between ceramic body and glaze and used for covering or decoration.
[GB/T 9195-2011, as defined in 4.3]
3.4
Polished surface
Surface of ceramic tile which has been given a glossy finish by mechanical polishing after firing.
