Household and similar electrical steam mop
1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification, parameters and designation, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of electrical steam mops for household and similar purposes.
This standard is applicable to electrical steam mops for household and similar purposes (hereinafter referred to as "electrical steam mop") with single-phase rated voltage not exceeding 250V, used by non-professionals in homes, shops, schools and other similar places for cleaning floors or household surfaces.
Note 1: This standard is applicable to:
——instant steam mop which quickly converts electric energy into steam;
——atmospheric pressure steam mop which converts electric energy into steam;
——Pressure steam mop with rated steam pressure not exceeding 0.4 MPa (4 bar) and converting electric energy into steam.
Note 2: This standard is not applicable to:
——mop composed of metal or plastic mop head, mop rod and other metal or plastic parts;
——mop driven mechanically by pressing or pedaling, etc., which uses centrifugal force to spin and dehydrate;
——other non-electric drive mop.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB 4706.1 and GB 4706.61 and the following apply.

4 Classification, parameters and designation
4.1 Classification
The electrical steam mops are classified into different types according to the following items.
4.1.1 According to steam pressure:
a) atmospheric pressure type;
b) pressure type.
4.1.2 According to the heating mode:
a) instant type;
b) others.
4.1.3 According to the application:
a) basic type (floor-cleaning);
b) multi-functional type (may cleaning other surfaces after replacing the mop head).
4.1.4 According to the modularization:
a) integrated;
b) detachable type.
4.1.5 According to the cleaning effect:
a) superior products;
b) acceptable products.
4.2 Parameters of best series

5 Requirements
5.1 Normal working conditions
Electrical steam mop shall work properly under the following conditions:
a) temperature: 5°C~40°C;
b) relative humidity: not more than 95% (at 25°C);
c) supply voltage: (220±10%) V; supply frequency: (50±1) Hz;
d) places without flammable, corrosive gas, flammable gas or conductive dust;
e) air pressure: 86 kPa~106 kPa.
5.2 Electrical safety
It shall comply with the provisions in GB 4706.1 and GB 4706.61.
5.3 Appearance, structure and materials
5.3.1 The mop rod shall be smooth and straight; the rod surface shall be uniform in color, free of defects such as blank, sediment light spots, scratches, rust and pits.
5.3.2 Plastic parts shall be uniform in color, with smooth edges and without burrs or sharp edges.
5.3.3 All kinds of markings on the electrical steam mop should be pasted firmly, smoothly, without edge warping and damage.
5.3.4 High temperature resistance of steam outlet: The steam outlet shall be resistant to high temperature, and shall be free of discoloration or adhesion after the test specified in 6.4.2.
5.4 Mechanical strength of telescopic rod and handle
Telescopic rods and handles shall possess certain mechanical strength. After the mechanical strength test specified in 6.5, no loosening, deformation or cracking is allowable for the telescopic rod and handle.
5.5 Steam performance
5.5.1 Steam waiting time
Under the test conditions, the steam performance shall conform to the nominal steam waiting time of the manufacturer.
5.5.2 Steam temperature of outlet position
Under the test conditions, the steam temperature of outlet position and temperature adjustment range shall conform to the nominal value specified by the manufacturer.
5.5.3 Steam output
Under the test conditions, the outlet steam flow and flow adjustment range shall conform to the nominal value specified by the manufacturer.
5.5.4 Residual water
When the atmospheric pressure steam mop is used without cloth covering, the water dripping amount within 1 min shall not exceed 15% of the nominal maximum steam amount.
When the pressure steam mop is used without cloth covering, the water dripping amount within 1 min shall not exceed 25% of the nominal maximum steam amount.
5.6 Clean effect
After the electrical steam mop is used to clean the dirt of crayons, the number of cleaning cycles, if acceptable, shall comply with Table 2.

5.7 Water tank capacity
The measured value of water tank capacity shall not be less than 95% of the nominal value.
5.8 Service life
Under the test conditions, the electrical steam mop may still start normally after working for at least 150 h.
5.9 Bacterial eliminating performance
For electrical steam mop with clearly indicated bacterial eliminating function, the eliminating bacterial rate for specific microorganism shall not be less than 99.0%.
5.10 Eliminating acarus performance
For electrical steam mop with clearly indicated acarus eliminating function, the eliminating acarus rate shall not be less than 80.0%.
5.11 Eliminating allergen performance
For electrical steam mop with clearly indicated allergen eliminating function, the eliminating allergen rate shall not be less than 80.0%.
6 Test methods
6.1 Test conditions
Unless otherwise specified, the test shall be conducted under the following conditions:
a) The test shall be conducted in the environment free from external strong electricity, magnetic field interference and harmful gas, and the test machine shall be placed as specified in the operating instructions;
b) laboratory temperature: (23±2)°C;
c) test water temperature: (25±2)°C;
d) supply voltage: (220±2%)V;
e) supply frequency: (50±1)Hz;
f) relative humidity: 45%~75%;
g) atmospheric pressure: 95 kPa~105 kPa;
h) test water: hardness of (1.50±0.10) mmol/l;
i) cover cloth: the product's allocated cloth;
j) ceramic tiles for test: dry-pressed ceramic tiles (E≤0.5% B I a) specified in Annex G of GB/T 4100-2015.
6.2 Accuracy of apparatuses
Accuracy of apparatuses shall meet the following requirements:
a) voltmeter: grade 0.5;
b) single-phase electric energy meter: grade 1.0;
c) thermometer: ±0.5°C;
d) timer: ±0.1s;
e) electronic scales: accurate to 0.1g;
f) pressure gauge: accurate to 1 kPa;
g) scale-measuring cup: the maximum measuring range is 1 000 mL.
6.3 Electrical safety
It shall meet those specified in GB 4706.1 and GB 4706.61.
6.4 Appearance, structure and materials
6.4.1 Visual inspection and operation with relevant measuring tools.
6.4.2 High temperature resistance of steam outlet: the parts in direct contact with steam shall be tested at the highest design temperature of the product for 2h, according to Test Bb of GB/T 2423.2-2008. After the test, check whether the parts are bonded or deformed.
6.5 Mechanical strength of telescopic rod and handle
6.5.1 Telescopic rod
6.5.1.1 The detachable parts shall be disassembled before test (parts that do not need to frequently disassemble when using shall be disassembled for 10 times before test, and parts that need to disassemble when using shall be disassembled for 100 times before test).
6.5.1.2 Extend the telescopic rod at its longest extended state, lock and fix one end of the telescopic rod:
——The integrated steam mop shall be pulled and pushed by 150 N along the axial direction of the telescopic rod at the other end respectively for 1 min;
——The detachable steam mop shall be pulled and pushed by 80 N along the axial direction of the telescopic rod at the other end respectively for 1 min.
6.5.1.3 Place the telescopic rod extended to its longest state horizontally with both ends fixed:
——For the integrated steam mop, apply a weight of 15 kg to the middle part of the rod, and unload it after 3 minutes;
——For the detachable steam mop, apply a weight of 5 kg to the middle part of the rod, and unload it after 3 minutes.
6.5.2 Handle
After assembling the electrical steam mop as specified in the operating instructions, fix the telescopic rod.
——For the integrated steam mop, apply a force of 70N in any direction of the handle and keeping for 3 min. After the test, visually inspect the handle and the connection state between the handle and the telescopic rod;
——For the detachable steam mop, apply a force of 50N in any direction of the handle and keeping for 3 min. After the test, visually inspect the handle and the connection state between the handle and the telescopic rod.
6.6 Steam performance
6.6.1 Steam waiting time
Add test water to the electrical steam mop to the highest water level, the mop shall be operated as specified in the product instructions and work under rated voltage. Measure and record the time from switching on to steam spray for 3 consecutive times, and take the arithmetic mean value.
6.6.2 Steam temperature of outlet position
As specified in the operating instructions, the temperature probes of thermocouple temperature tester shall be distributed at the positions specified in Figure 1, and the cover cloth shall be placed at the corresponding position of electrical steam mop. After filling the tank with water, turn on the electrical steam mop, and start testing 30s after the steam spray. Measure the value at a point (see Figure 1) selected at the cross section of steam outlet after continuous operation for 3 min, and record at least once per second. The arithmetic mean value of the temperature within 3 min shall be taken as the steam temperature of outlet position.

6.6.3 Steam output
Operate as specified in the instructions. Under the test conditions, add the test water into the electrical steam mop to the highest water level, record the time from the 3rd minute after the steam spray, measure the total mass W1 before the test with an electronic weighing meter, test for at least 3 min, read the total mass W2 after the test and the test time t, and then calculate the steam output according to Equation (1).

6.6.4 Residual water
Remove the cover cloth of the electrical steam mop, adjust the electrical steam mop to the maximum steam flow gear (except for special mode), and preheat it for 3 min under the test conditions. With the direction of its outlet parallel to the ground, the electrical steam mop shall be located at most 500 mm above the ground. Measure the quality of water that drops from the surface of the electrical steam mop within 5 min, and take the arithmetic mean value.
6.7 Clean effect
It shall conform to the provisions of Annex B.
6.8 Water tank capacity
Fill the water tank of the electrical steam mop with water, and then pour the water in the water tank into a scale-measuring cup in batches to calculate the total water capacity of the water tank (water tank capacity). Compare the measured capacity of water tank with its nominal capacity.
6.9 Service life
Use test water to ensure that there is always water in the water tank. The electrical steam mop powered by rated voltage shall be adjusted to its maximum gear, started for 30 min and simulated normal walking (at a speed is 0.2 m/s), switch off for 15 min, and cumulative working time shall reach 150h. After the test, check whether the electrical steam mop can function normally and whether there is any electrical defect.
6.10 Bacterial eliminating performance
It shall comply with the provisions in Annex C.
6.11 Acarus eliminating performance
It shall comply with the provisions in Annex D.
6.12 Eliminating allergen performance
It shall comply with the provisions in Annex E.
