3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 19596 and the following apply.
3.1
residual capacity
actual capacity remaining after the traction battery is removed from the electric vehicle
3.2
discharge capacity at I5
capacity (A·h) of the battery discharged at a current of 1I5(A) until reaching the cut-off voltage at room temperature
Note: This value may be obtained by integrating the coverage area of the current-time curve, including at least 50 equivalent time intervals, or directly measured by an integrator.
4 Symbols
For the purposes of this document, the following symbols apply.
Cn——nominal capacity, A·h.
Wn——nominal energy, W·h.
Un——nominal voltage, V.
Ic——the first charge/discharge current of battery cell, A, with the value calculated using the equation in Table 1.
Im——the first charge/discharge current of battery module, A, with the value calculated using the equation in Table 1.
n1——quantity of battery cells connected in parallel in the module, pcs.
n2——quantity of battery cells connected in series in the module, pcs.
m——mass of battery cell, g.
5 Test requirements
5.1 Safety requirements
5.1.1 Professional personnel with battery test knowledge shall be assigned to monitor the whole process.

6.2 Appearance inspection
6.2.1 Under good light conditions, visually inspect the appearance of traction battery module and cell. In case of any deformation, crack, liquid leakage, etc., the test of residual capacity shall not be conducted.
6.2.2 Visually inspect the appearance of traction battery cell and module. The active protection circuit, if any, shall be removed before test.
6.3 Information collection
6.3.1 Observe the labels on the exterior of traction battery and collect the basic information of traction battery, such as the nominal voltage, nominal capacity or nominal energy.
6.3.2 Weigh and record the mass of traction battery.
6.4 Voltage discrimination
Detect the terminal voltage of traction battery with a voltmeter to preliminarily determine the battery type, and discriminate the battery polarity.
