This standard replaces GB 17203-1998 Food Additive - Calcium Citrate.
The following main changes have been made with respect to GB 17203-1998 (the previous edition):
———The standard is renamed as "National Food Safety Standard - Food Nutritive Fortifier - Calcium Citrate";
———The sensory requirements are modified;
———The index requirements for calcium citrate content (counted by dry basis), loss on drying and plumbum (Pb) are modified;
———The index requirements and inspection methods for heavy metal (counted by Pb), acid-insoluble substances and solution clarity are deleted;
———The identification test method is modified;
———For inspection method of loss on drying, corresponding national standards are refered to;
———The normative references of some inspection methods are adjusted to the latest edition.

Inspection Methods
A.1 General
Unless otherwise specified, analytically-pure reagents and Class-III water (defined in GB/T 6682) are adopted for the purpose of this standard. Unless otherwise specified, the standard solution, standard solution for impurity determination, preparations and products used in the test are prepared according to the requirements of GB/T 601, GB/T 602 and GB/T 603. Solutions used in the test are all water solution, unless other solvents for preparation are indicated.
