This document specifies the product classification, requirements, inspection rules, packaging and marking of flame retardant fabrics, and also describes the corresponding test methods.
This document is applicable to the production, design and inspection of woven fabrics and knitted fabrics for interior decoration, interior decoration of vehicles (including aircraft, ships, automobiles, trains, etc.), and flame retardant protective clothing.

3 Terms and definitions

maximum length of the damaged part of the material in the specified direction under the specified test conditions

continuous flame burning time of material after the ignition source is removed under the specified test conditions

time for the material to continue flameless burning after the fire source is removed under the specified test conditions and when the flame burning is terminated, or if the flameless burning is originally carried out

drip of molten material, whether it burns or not

density of smoke
measure of the smoke amount emitted by a material under specified test conditions
Note: It is expressed by the attenuation of light intensity transmitted through the smoke.

flame spread rate, rate of flame spread
burning rate
distance of flame front spread per unit time under the specified test conditions
Note: It is expressed in millimeters/minute (mm/min).

damaged area
total area of irrecoverable damage caused by heating of the material under the specified test conditions
Note 1: Including material loss, shrinkage, softening, melting, carbonization, combustion and pyrolysis. etc.

thermal protective performance; TPP
accumulated energy determined by the intersection of the measured heat transfer reaction curve and Stoll curve of the material in accumulated time during testing of thermal protective material

4 Product classification
The flame retardant fabrics are divided into 3 categories by end use.
——Fabrics for interior decoration, such as curtains, tablecloths, curtains, sofa covers, bedspreads, etc.
——Fabrics for vehicle interior decoration, such as fabrics for vehicle interior seat covers, curtains, sunshades, etc.
——Fabrics for flame retardant protective clothing.
