1 Scope
This standard prescribes the classification, order content, material, technical requirements, inspection and test, acceptance method, packaging, marking and quality certificate of steel wire ropes for important purposes.
This standard is applicable to the round strand and shaped strand wire ropes for mine hoisting, blast furnace winding, large-scale moulding, petroleum drilling, large-scale hoisting, heavy hoisting, ropeway, ground cable car, shipping and offshore facilities.

3 Classification
3.1 The steel wire ropes are classified according to their strand section, number of strands and the outer steel wire number of strand (see Table 1). In round strand and shaped strand wire ropes, if the demander does not clearly require the steel wire ropes with certain structures, in the same group, the structural selection is confirmed by the supplier.
