This standard is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 5242-2006 Check rules and test methods of cemented carbide products.
The following main changes have been made with respect to GB/T 5242-2006 (the previous edition):
-Normative references are enriched with new ones;
-The inspection items are updated, with the items like cobalt magnetization, chemical composition, thermal diffusivity, elastic modulus and drop test (or hammering test) added and the item cross-section microstructure deleted;
-Clause 3 “Terms and definitions” is deleted;
-The 4.1.2 “Inspection classification” and 4.4 “Judgment of inspection result” are deleted;
-Clause 5 “Acceptance” is deleted;
-Annex A (normative) is added.
This standard was proposed by China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association.
This standard is under the jurisdiction of SAC/TC 243 National Technical Committee on Nonferrous Metals of Standardization Administration of China.
The previous editions of the standard replaced by this standard are as follows:
——GB/T 5242-1985 and GB/T 5242-2006.

3.1 Inspection items
3.1.1 Chemical composition
The inspection items of chemical composition include main metal content, total carbon and oxygen content.
3.1.2 Physical and mechanical properties
The inspection items of physical and mechanical properties mainly include density, Rockwell hardness (or Vickers hardness) and transverse rupture strength (bending strength), and where necessary, such items as coercivity (magnetization), cobalt magnetization (or magnetic saturation), cutting property, drilling property, impact toughness, thermal diffusivity, elastic modulus and drop test (or hammering test) may also be inspected.
3.1.3 Metallographic structure
