1 Scope
This standard specifies the requirements, inspection rules, test methods, marking, packaging, transportation, storage and order (or contract) contents of cemented carbide inserts for mining and oil-field bits.
This standard is applicable to workblanks of cemented carbide inserts used for cone bits and down-the-hole (DTH) bits for mine excavation and oil exploitation.
2 Normative references
The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. For dated references, subsequent amendments (excluding corrections), or revisions, of any of these publications do not apply. However, parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the normative documents indicated below. For undated references, the latest editions apply.

3 Requirements
3.1 Product classification
According to the shapes of inserts, products may be classified into CB (edge wedge insert), CP (flat-topped insert), CQ (spherical insert), CQ-1 (double-chamfer spherical insert), CS (spoon-shaped insert), CS-1 (eccentric spoon-shaped insert), CX (wedge-shaped insert), CX-1 (concave wedge-shaped insert), CZ (tapered insert) and CZ-1 (spherical tapered insert).
3.2 Expression rules on product model
3.2.1 A two-digit integers representing the diameter (if smaller than a two-digit integer, “0” shall be added in front of the integer; if not an integer, decimals shall be removed) and a two-digit integer representing the height (if smaller than a two-digit integer, “0” shall be added in front of the integer; if not a integer, decimals shall be removed) are added following the shape codes (CB, CP, CQ, CS, CX and CZ).
3.2.2 Where the main parameters (diameter and height) of cemented carbide inserts are the same, while other parameters (e.g., angle) are different, then A is added following the model to show the difference.
