This standard is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 5213-2008 Cold rolled low carbon steel sheet and strip. In addition to a number of editorial changes, the following technical changes have been made with respect to GB/T 5213-2008:
—— the application scope of the product and nominal thickness range are modified (see Clause 1 of this standard; and Clause 1 of Edition 2008);
—— the lower limit of tensile strength of designation DC06 is modified (see Clause 4 of this standard; and Clause 4 of Edition 2008);
—— the requirement for elongation after fracture is added in accordance with different class intervals of nominal thickness (see Table 4)
—— the requirement for FC surface quality in stretcher strain marks of designation DC01 is added (see Table 5);
—— “surface quality”, “shape and dimension”, as well as the corresponding test methods and requirements are added in the inspection items of Table 7 (see Table 7)
—— the reference values of chemical composition of steel are modified (see Annex A of this standard; and Annex A of 2008 edition);
—— Cross Reference between domestic and foreign designations in Annex B is modified (see Annex A of this standard; and Annex A of 2008 edition).
This standard was proposed by the China Iron and Steel Industry Association.
This standard is under jurisdiction of SAC/TC 183 National Technical Committee on Iron and Steel of Standardization Administration of China.
The previous editions of this standard are as follows:
——GB/T 5213-1985, GB/T 5213-2001, and GB/T 5213-2008.
Cold rolled low carbon steel sheet and strip
1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification and designation expression methods, order details, dimension, shape, weight, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking and product quality certificate for cold rolled low carbon steel sheet and strip.
This standard is applicable to cold rolled low carbon steel sheet and strip (hereinafter referred to as steel sheets and strips) with cold forming thickness no greater than 3.5 mm.

3.2 Designation expression methods
The designation of steel sheets and strips is composed of three parts, the first part is letter D, representing steel sheets and strips for cold forming; the second part is letter C, representing the cold rolled condition; the third part is a two-digit serial NO., i.e. 01, 03 and 04, etc.
For example: DC01
D—— steel sheets and strips for cold forming
C—— cold-rolled condition
01—— digital serial No.
