This standard is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 5100-2011 Welded Steel Gas Cylinders in whole.
In addition to a number of editorial changes, the following main technical changes have been made with respect to the GB/T 5100-2011:
— the application scope of the standard is expanded;
— the requirements for materials are modified;
— the design method and wall thickness design formula are modified;
— the requirements and calculation methods of opening reinforcement are clarified.
This standard has been redrafted and modified adoption of International Standard ISO 4706:2008 Gas Cylinders — Refillable Welded Steel Cylinder —Test Pressure 60 bar and Below, but is not equivalent to ISO 4706:2008.

Welded Steel Gas Cylinders
1 Scope
This standard specifies basic parameters, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of welded steel gas cylinders (hereinafter referred to as "cylinders").
This standard is applicable to refillable cylinders that can be filled with low-pressure liquefied gas and cylinders with porous fillers and filled with acetylene gas, which of a test pressure not greater than 12 MPa (gauge pressure), and of water capacities from 0.5 L up to and including 1000 L exposed to normal ambient temperatures (-40°C to 60°C).
This standard also applicable to cylinders filled with low pressure liquefied gases and mixtures of compressed gases for fire fighting.

3.1 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 13005 and the following apply.

batch
quantity of cylinders made consecutively to the same design, size and material specifications using the same type of welding machines, welding procedures and to the same heat treatment conditions

main body of the cylinder
the part of cylinder composed of head and barrel or two heads

effective thickness
nominal wall thickness of cylinder (or nozzles) minus corrosion margin and negative deviation of material thickness

4 Basic Parameters
4.1 Nominal volume and diameter
The recommended values of nominal volume (V) of and nominal diameter (D) of the cylinder shall be in accordance with those specified in Table 1.

4.2 Nominal working pressure and actual test pressure
4.2.1 Nominal working pressure
The determination of nominal working pressure of cylinders shall follow the following principles:
a) For cylinders containing a mixture of low pressure liquefied and compressed gases, the nominal working pressure shall be the gas pressure in the cylinder when specified upper limit of ambient temperature is reached;
b) The nominal working pressure of cylinders containing low pressure liquefied gases shall not be less than the saturated vapor pressure of the medium containing the cylinders at 60°C;
c) The nominal working pressure selected for cylinders containing toxic and highly toxic liquefied gases shall be appropriately increased;
d) The saturated vapor pressure of low pressure liquefied gases at 60°C shall be specified according to GB/T 14193 or the corresponding gas standard.
4.2.2 Actual test pressure
For cylinders containing liquefied gases or a mixture of liquefied gases and compressed gases, the actual test pressure shall not be less than 1.5 times the nominal working pressure, and the actual test pressure of a cylinder containing acetylene gas is 5.2 MPa.
