This standard is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 2059-2008 Strip of Copper and Copper Alloy. The following main changes have been made with respect to GB/T 2059-2008:
——Representation of copper and copper alloy designations are added;
——Representation of alloy designation and state is modified;
——Designations H66, BZn18-18 and BZn18-26 as well as the corresponding requirements on them are added;
——H08 state of the designation QSn8-0.3 is added;
——Ranges of thickness and width of some strips are modified;
——Mechanical properties of some strips are modified;
——The requirements for Rockwell hardness (HRB) are deleted;
——"Measuring method for overall dimension" is changed to "inspection method for the overall dimension of the strip is in accordance with the requirements of GB/T 26303.3";
——The references YS/T 482 Methods for Analysis of Copper and Copper Alloys - The Atomic Emission Spectrometry and YS/T 483 Methods for Analysis of Copper and Copper Alloys - X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometric are added;
——Tensile specimen number is modified according to the requirements of GB/T 228.1-2010;
——"Sampling method is in accordance with the requirements of YS/T 668, and the specimens for mechanical property and processing property are prepared according to the requirements of YS/T 815" is added;
——The requirements for sampling direction of the bend test of the strip are added.

This standard specifies requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage, quality certificate and order (or contract) content of copper and copper alloy strip.
This standard is applicable to wrought copper and copper alloy strip for general purposes (hereafter referred to as "strip").

3.1.2 Marking examples
The product is marked with the information in the order: product name, standard number, designation (or code), state and specification.
Example 1: the half hard (H02) strip made from H62 (T27600), with ordinary dimensional accuracy, with 0.8mm in thickness and 200m in width shall be marked as follows:
Strip GB/T 2059-H62 H02.08×200
Or strip GB/T 2059-T27600 H02-0.8×200
Example 2: the half hard (H02) strip made from H62 (T27600), with high dimensional accuracy, with 0.8mm in thickness and 200m in width shall be marked as follows:

3.2 Chemical composition
Chemical composition of the strip shall meet the corresponding requirements of GB/T 5231.
3.3 Overall dimension and its permissible deviation
Overall dimension of the strip and its permissible deviation shall meet the corresponding requirements of GB/T 17793. Any overall dimension and permissible deviation beyond the required values in GB/T 17793 shall be determined through negotiation between the supplier and the purchaser.
