This standard replaces GB/T13554-2008 High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter. The following technical deviations have been made with respect to the GB/T 13554-2008 (the previous edition):
— the classification and designation systems of filter are modified (see 4.2 and 4.4; 4.2 and 4.4 of Edition 2008);
— the requirements for fire resistance classification of filters are deleted (see 4.3 of Edition 2008);
— the requirements for wood boards and plywood be used as framing materials for high efficiency particulate air filters are deleted [see 5.1.3 c) of Edition 2008];
— the requirements for delivery leak detection of filter are modified (see 6.3; 6.3 of Edition 2008);
— the requirements for maximum resistance limits of filters are deleted (see 6.5 of Edition 2008);
— the requirements for nominal resistance deviation of filters are added (see 6.6);
— the requirements for pressure resistance of filters are deleted (see 6.7 of Edition 2008);
— the test methods for counting and scanning leak detection of filter are modified (see Annex B; Annex B of Edition 2008);
— the test methods for electrostatic elimination of high efficiency particulate air filters are added (see Annex D);
— the comprehensive energy efficiency test methods for the life cycle of high efficiency particulate air filters are added (see Annex E);

High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter
1 Scope
This standard specifies the classification and designation, materials, structure and production environment, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of high efficiency particulate air filters and ultra low penetration air filters (hereinafter referred to as "filters").
This standard is applicable to the filters used in air supply and exhaust purification systems and equipment at room temperature.

3 Terms, Definitions and Abbreviations
3.1 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 6165 and the following apply.

high efficiency particulate air filter (HEPA)
filter for air filtration and tested with the counting method specified in GB/T 6165, and the filter efficiency without electrostatic elimination treatment and the filter efficiency after electrostatic elimination treatment at rated air flowrate are not less than 99.95%
3.1.2
ultra low penetration air filter (ULPA)
filter for air filtration and tested with the counting method specified in GB/T 6165, and the filter efficiency without electrostatic elimination treatment and the filter efficiency after electrostatic elimination treatment at rated air flowrate are not less than 99.999%

efficiency
ratio of the amount of aerosol filtered by the filter element to the amount of aerosol before filtration when the filter element is tested
3.1.4
penetration
ratio of the aerosol concentration filtered by of the filter element to the aerosol concentration before filtration when the filter element is tested
3.1.5
separator-style filter
filter with the filter medium is folded back according to the required depth and forth into the filter element, which is supported and separated by a corrugated partition between the folded filter medium to form an air channel

minipleat-style filter
filter with the filter medium is folded back according to the required depth and forth into the filter element, which is supported by linear binder or other separators between the folded filter medium to form an air channel

rated air flowrate
technical parameter that identifies the working capacity of the filter and represents the maximum air volume flow per unit time to ensure the filter efficiency

4 Classification and Designation
4.1 Classification by structure
According to the structure of filter element, the filters can be divided into separator-style filter and minipleat-style filter, see Figure 1.

4.2 Classification by efficiency level
4.2.1 High efficiency particulate air filter
According to the filter efficiency tested by the method specified in GB/T 6165, high efficiency particulate air filters can be divided into Types 35, 40 and 45.
4.2.2 Ultra low penetration air filter
According to the filter efficiency tested by the counting method specified in GB/T 6165, ultra low penetration air filters can be divided into Types 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, and 75.
4.3 Designation
The designation of filter is shown in Figure 2, and the size code is shown in Table 1. See Annex A for common sizes.
