1 Scope
1.1 This Standard specifies design, fabrication, inspection and acceptance requirements for metallic vertical vessels.
1.2 The application scope of this Standard is as follows:
a) The design pressure of steel vertical vessels supported by skirt is no greater than 35 MPa and the design pressure of vertical vessels made from other metallic materials shall be in accordance with the requirements of relevant standards;
b) The design temperature range falls in the allowable application temperature range of metallic materials;
c) Skirt self-support metallic vertical vessel with the ratio of height H and average diameter D greater than 5.
1.3 Skirt self-support metallic vertical vessel with the ratio of height H and average diameter D no greater than 5 may be designed by reference to Appendix E.
1.4 This Standard is not applicable to the following vertical vessels:
a) Vertical vessel accompanied with bracing device;
b) Coupled in-line vessel or vessel group integrated by operating platform;
c) Vertical vessel with jacket;
d) Cast iron and nonmetallic vertical vessel.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this Standard, the following terms and definitions in GB/T 26929 as well as the following ones apply.
3.1 Pressure
The force directly acting on the unit surface area of vertical vessel. Unless otherwise stated, pressure refers to the gauge pressure in this Standard.
3.2 Operating Pressure
It refers to the possible maximum pressure on the vertical vessel top under normal operation condition.
