3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply. The terms and definitions listed in "Specification of Design Base for Steel Chemical Vessels"HG/T 20580 are not repeated here.
3.0.1 Pressure
Unless otherwise provided, pressure refers to the gauge pressure.
3.0.2 Nominal pressure
Nominal pressure refers to the standard design pressure grade classified customarily for standard or series spare parts.
3.0.3 Nominal size
Nominal size is a group of data agreed uniformly in the element design and application for the convenience of mutual matching and exchanging between parts. Nominal size is a symbolic basic size of vessel parts.
3.0.4 Raised face
Raised face refers to a type of flange sealing surface. The raised smooth seal face and the contact surface with gasket are located on the inner side of bolt hole, the code number is RF. It is also known as plane sealing.
3.0.5 Full face
Full face refers to a type of flange sealing surface, also called full plane. The full face and the contact surface with gasket are located on the inner and outer side of bolt hole, the code number is FF. It is also known as broad face sealing.
3.0.6 Welding
A way to joint workpieces or parts through heating or pressurizing by using or without using filler materials.
3.0.7 Welding structure
The connection structures fabricated by using welding method are called weld structures. The structures formed by welding vessels parts are also belong to weld structures.
3.0.8 Weld
Weld refers to the joint part formed after welding workpieces or parts. The type of weld may approximately be classified into: butt weld, fillet weld, plug weld, slotted weld and edge weld.
3.0.9 Weld reinforcement
The maximum height of the metal in the butt weld section over the surface connecting line of base metal.
3.0.10 Weld convexity
Weld convexity refers to the maximum distance between weld toe connecting line and weld surface in the transverse plane of convex fillet weld.
