This document specifies the vocabulary related to tyre for industrial purpose, and covers terms and definitions related to tyre classification, components of tyre, tread pattern, rim, tyre dimension, tyre performance and its test, tyre marking, appearance defects of tyre, and type service, as well as tyre retread and repair.
This document is applicable to passenger car tyre, light truck tyre, truck tyre, earth-mover tyre, agricultural tyre, industrial tyre, motorcycle tyre, electric bicycle tyre, cycle tyre and aircraft tyre.

3 General terms
3.1
tyre
ring-shaped elastic product that is mounted on a vehicle wheel or machine wheel
3.2
new tyre
tyre that has been neither used nor subjected to a retreading operation
3.3
grown tyre
tyre that has undergone expansion due to use in service
3.4
pneumatic tyre
tyre that needs the compressed gas or liquid in the inner cavity and is capable of keeping the pressure
Note: It is divided into tube tyre and tubeless tyre.

solid tyre
tyre that has the materials of different performances filled in the carcass and is not equipped with inner cavity
3.6
tubeless tyre
pneumatic tyre that does not need to be fitted with an inner tube
3.7
tube tyre
pneumatic tyre that needs to be fitted with an inner tube in the inner cavity of the cover
Note: It usually includes the cover, inner tube and cushion belt.

4 Tyre classification
4.1 Classification by function
4.1.1
normal tyre
tyre designed for normal use
4.1.2
special use tyre
tyre designed to be used primarily off-road, to be used in a mixture of ordinary road and off-road, or to be used under other special conditions
Note: The marking of this type of tyres includes MPT (multi-purpose truck), ML (mining and logging), ET (extra tread), POR (professional off-road), MT (mud-terrain), RT (rugged-terrain), AT (all-terrain), etc.

tyre designed to be used primarily on a vehicle's drive wheels, which maximizes the transfer of the vehicle's power

3.4 充气轮胎pneumatic tyre 轮胎内腔需要充入压缩气体或液体,并能保持压力的轮胎。注:分为有内胎轮胎和无内胎轮胎。
3.5 实心轮胎 solid tyre 用不同性能的材料充实轮胎胎体的无内腔轮胎。
3.6 无内胎轮胎 tubeless tyre 不需要装配内胎的充气轮胎。
3.7 有内胎轮胎 tube tyre 轮胎外胎内腔中需要装配内胎的充气轮胎。注:通常包括外胎、内脸和垫带。
3.8 外胎 cover 能承受各种作用力的轮胎外壳体。
4 轮胎分类
4.1 按用途分类
4.1.1 普通轮胎normal tyre 设计用于普通用途的轮胎。
4.1.2 特殊用途轮胎 special use tyre 设计主要在非公路条件下使用,能在普通公路和非公路混合使用,或在其他特殊条件下使用的轮胎。 注:该类型轮胎标志包括MPT(multi-purpose truck)、ML (mining and logging)、ET(extra tread)、POR(professional off-road)、MT(mud-terrain)、RT(rugged-terrain)、AT(all-terrain)等。
4.1.3 牵引型轮胎 traction tyre 设计主要用于车辆驱动轮,能最大限度地传递车辆的动力的轮胎。
