Textiles — Tests for colour fastness — Cotton rubbing cloth
1 Scope
This standard specifies the specifications and requirements of cotton rubbing cloth used to evaluate dyed cotton rubbing cloth in the rubbing colour fastness test of textiles.
The dye performance of cotton rubbing cloth to be tested is determined by comparing it with cotton reference rubbing cloth dyed with cotton reference fabric.

4 Specification for cotton rubbing cloth
4.1 Mass per unit area : (110± 5) g/m2, determined in accordance with GB/T 4669.
4.2 Whiteness value:
Y10 = 89 ± 2
W10 = 78 ± 3
TW, 10 = -1 ± 1
Colour measurement shall be made with the specular component in accordance with GB/T 8424.1, excluding spectrophotometric colorimeter with 0/45 (45/0) geometry. Brightness value (Y10), whiteness value (W10) and tint (TW, 10) value shall be calculated using the standard illuminant CIE D65 and CIE 1964 supplementary standard colorimetric system (10° observer) in accordance with GB/T 8424.2.
Measure the whiteness degree of at least a four-layer cotton rubbing cloth to obtain a uniform whiteness value.
4.3 Residual oil content: less than 1 %.
Note: Refer to FZ/T 20002 for the tolerance.
4.4 The pH of aqueous extract: 7.5 ± 1.0, determined in accordance with GB/T 7573.
5 Assessment of staining properties of cotton rubbing cloth under test.
5.1 General
As cotton rubbing cloth are required to yield reproducible results when used in color fastness to rubbing tests, their most important property is standardized staining performance. The staining performance of the cotton rubbing cloth under test shall conform to those of the cotton rubbing cloth reference fabric when performing color fastness to rubbing tests on the cotton dyed reference fabric.
5.2 Test procedure
Conduct dry(wet) friction test with one piece of cotton rubbing cloth under test (3.1) and one piece of cotton rubbing cloth reference fabric (3.2) in accordance to the method specified in GB/T 3920, and evaluate the colour difference between the tested cotton rubbing cloth under test and the cotton rubbing cloth reference fabric.
Conduct 10 groups of dry tests and 10 groups of wet tests in accordance with this test procedure.
