This standard is drafted in accordance with the rules given in the GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 23332-2009 Humidifiers. In addition to a number of editorial changes, the following technical deviations have been made with respect to GB/T 23332-2009 (the previous edition):
— The scope of application of this standard is modified (see Clause 1; Clause 1 in Edition 2009);
— GB/T 23119, GB 21551.2, GB/T 7477 and other standards are added; GB/T 13306, GB/T 2829 and other standards are deleted (see Clause 2; Clause 2 in Edition 2009);
— The definitions of “evaporative humidifier” and “electrical heating humidifier” are modified (see 3.1.2 and 3.1.3; 3.3 and 3.4 in Edition 2009); terms and definitions of “water hardness”, “primary hardness”, “outlet water hardness”, “lightwave humidifier”, “ordinary humidifier”, “auto-control humidifier”, “main unit”, “water tank”, “openable water tank”, “airtight water tank”, “water level protection function” and “evaporating wick lifetime” are deleted (see 3.5, 3.10, 3.11, 3.12, 3.13, 3.14, 3.15, 3.18, 3.19, 3.21, 3.22, 3.23); and the definition of “multifunctional humidifier” is added (see 3.1.5);

Humidifiers
1 Scope
This standard specifies terms and definitions, classification and designation, technical requirements, test method, inspection rules, marking, packaging, instructions, transport and storage of humidifiers.
This standard is applicable to humidifiers for household and similar purposes. This standard is also applicable to the evaluation of the humidification function of similar appliances such as air purifiers or air conditioners with humidification function.
Attention shall be drawn to that additional requirements may be necessary for humidifiers used under the following cases:
— humidifier used on transport facilities (like vehicle, vessel, aircraft, etc.);
This standard is not applicable to:
— humidifier specially designed for industrial purposes;
— humidifier used in special environment and/or site with corrosive or explosive gas (like dust, steam and methane gas);
— humidifier used for medical purpose.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.

humidifier
appliance driven by electricity and used for increasing the relative air humidity
3.1.11
ultrasonic humidifier
humidifier which atomizes the water by virtue of ultrasonic and then disperses water spray into the air

evaporative humidifier
humidifier that let the evaporated water diffuse into the air under the action of a fan

3.1.3
electrical heating humidifier
humidifier vaporizing the water by means of electrical heating
Note: the electrode humidifier vaporizing the water by heating it with electrode is included.
3.1.4
hybrid humidifier
humidifier realizing the humidification function by means of any two or more of the above principles
3.1.5
multifunctional humidifier
humidifier with humidification and other functions
Note: such as air purifying humidifier, air conditioning humidifier and fresh air humidifier.
3.2
rated output of humidity
capacity of humidifier to atomize or vaporize water in 1h under rated working conditions in the maximum humidification state

a kind of device capable of effectively removing the calcium and magnesium ions from water and therefore reducing the water hardness
4 Classification, Specification and Designation
4.1 Classification
4.1.1 It is classified according to humidification mode into
a) ultrasonic humidifier;
b) evaporative humidifier;
c) electrical heating humidifier;
d) hybrid humidifier.
4.1.2 It is classified according to function combination into
a) humidifier with single function;
b) multifunctional humidifier.
4.2 Specification and designation
See Annex A.
5 Technical Requirements
5.1 Operating conditions
The appliance shall be used under the following conditions:
a) environmental temperature: 10 to 40℃;
b) environmental humidity: the relative humidity is not greater than 80% (at 25℃).
Note: the conditions specified in the instructions, if any, shall prevail.
5.2 General requirements
The main components shall be made of safe and harmless materials which are solid, durable and free from extraneous odor and generating secondary pollution.
5.3 Safety
The humidifier shall comply with the requirements of GB 4706.1 and GB 4706.48.
5.4 Appearance
The surface of the appliance shall be flat and smooth, uniform in color and aging-resistant, free from defects like crack, bubble and shrinkage cavity.
5.5 Output of humidity
The measured output of humidity of the humidifier shall not be less than 90% of the rated value.
5.6 Efficiency of humidity
The efficiency of humidity of humidifier shall be not inferior to Grade D.
The efficiency of humidity is classified into Grade A, B, C and D (from high to low) and see Table 1 for the specific indexes.

5.7 Noise
A-weighted sound power level noise of humidifier shall meet those specified in Table 2. The tolerance between the measured value and the declared value shall not exceed +3dB, and the maximum tolerance shall not exceed the limit value.

Note: the multifunctional humidifier or hybrid humidifier is measured according to the function, after which, the larger value is taken as the result, and the noise function is evaluated according to the standard limit of the corresponding larger limit, except for the noise of outdoor unit.
5.8 Water softener function and water level protection
5.8.1 The outlet water hardness of water softener shall not be greater than 0.7mmol/L(Ca2+/Mg2+).
5.8.2 When the outlet water hardness is greater than 50% of the initial value, the accumulated amount of softened water shall not be less than 100L.
5.8.3 pH value of softened water shall be 6.5 to 8.5.
5.8.4 The humidifier shall be provided with water level protection function and water shortage alarm function.
5.9 Durability
The durability shall not be inferior to Grade D specified in Table 3.
The durability is classified into Grade A, B, C and D (from high to low) and see Table 3 for the specific indexes.

Note 1: as for hybrid humidifier, the limit for the type with stricter requirements shall prevail.
Note 2: the multifunctional humidifier is graded by humidity mode.
5.10 Requirements for complete unit leakage
During operation, the humidifier shall be free from leakage.
5.11 Anti-bacteria and anti-mildew
Materials declared to be antibacterial and anti-mildew shall comply with the requirements of Table 4.

5.12 Water tank capacity
The measured value shall be no less than 95% of the nominal value.
6 Test Method
6.1 Test conditions
6.1.1 Test environmental conditions
6.1.1.1 The environmentfor rated output of humidity test shall be in accordance with those specified in Annex B.
6.1.1.2Environmental conditions for other tests shall comply with the specific test requirements.
6.1.1.3Thetest water temperature shall comply with the specific test requirements.
6.1.2 Test water sample
The test water sample shall be prepared according to the product instructions; if such requirement is not available in the product instructions, the sample shall be prepared according to the method specified in GB/T 23119, and the total hardness of water shall be (1.50±0.20) mmol/L (Ca2+/Mg2+).
6.2 Instrument conditions
6.2.1 The relative uncertainty of electric instrument used for type inspection shall not be higher than 1.0%, and that used for delivery inspection shall not be higher than 2.0%.
6.2.2 The uncertainty of the thermometer shall not be higher than 0.5℃.
6.2.3 The relative uncertainty of timekeeping instruments shall not be greater than 0.5%.
6.2.4 The weighing machine is in unit of kilogram (g) with relative uncertainty no higher than 1.0%.
6.2.5 The water meter is in unit of L with uncertainty no higher than 0.1L.
6.2.6 The uncertainty of hygrometer shall not be higher than 2%RH.
6.3 Safety inspection items
The safety inspection items shall be inspected according to GB 4706.1 and GB 4706.48.
6.4 Appearance quality
Visually inspect to see whether it meets the requirements of clause 5.4.
6.5 Output of humidity
It shall be inspected according to the method specified in Annex B.
6.6 Efficiency of humidity
The input power W is measured when the humidifier is operated at the maximum humidification operation gear under rated operating conditions.
The efficiency of humidity is calculated with Formula (1):

6.7 Noise test
It shall be carried out according to the method specified in Annex C.
6.8 Water softener and water level protection
6.8.1 The humidifier with water softener shall be tested in accordance with the method specified in Annex D.
6.8.2 Operate the humidifier according to the instructions and check whether the water level protection function is effective and reliable.
6.9 Durability
Operate the humidifier continuously under a non-forced convection environment with the temperature of (25±5)℃ and relative humidity not higher than 60%. The test water specified in 6.1.2 shall be adopted for the test.
First measure initial output of humidity under normal operating conditions, then operate the humidifier continuously at the highest gear; when the accumulated operating time reaches the corresponding value specified in Table 3, stop the test and measure the output of humidity. The test is valid if the output of humidity is greater than 50% of the initial value.
After the above test, the water level protection function shall work normally.
Note 1: During the test, the components shall be cleaned or replaced regularly according to the operating instructions.
Note 2: The evaporator of evaporative humidifier shall be replaced every 500h.
Note 3: The ultrasonic generator of ultrasonic humidifier may be replaced once.
Note 4: When the accumulated time is reached, the humidifier shall be cleaned according to the instructions before the test of output of humidity is carried out.
