Limit of harmful substances of architectural wall coatings
1 Scope
This standard specifies the product classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marks for package and implementation of this standard involved in the allowable limit of harmful substances of architectural wall coatings to human body and environment.
This standard is applicable to various architectural wall coatings, which are directly applied on site or in factories and are used to decorate and protect the interior and exterior surfaces of buildings based on cement-based and other nonmetallic materials (except wood materials).

For the purpose of this document, the following term and definition apply.
3.1
building
a space or entity constructed of building materials for people to live and perform various activities
[See Definition 2.1.4 in GB/T 50504-2009]
Note: for example, residential buildings, office buildings, plants, warehouses, shopping malls, stadiums, exhibition halls, libraries, hospitals, schools, airports, stations, theaters, churches, etc.
3.2
architectural wall coatings
wall coating applied to the interior and exterior surfaces of buildings with cement-based and other nonmetallic materials (except wood materials) as substrates.
3.3
decorative panel coatings
a type of coating applied to panel-like products (except metal materials) with heat insulation and decoration functions on the surface of architectural walls
Note: decorative panels mainly include asbestos-free calcium silicate panel, asbestos-free fiber cement panel, natural granite thin stone, glass, porcelain panel, ceramic panel, etc.
3.4
effect pigment
usually as a flake pigment, it can provide some other performances in addition to color, such as rainbow color (formed by light interference on a thin layer), different color with angle (color change, color jump, color shade change) or texture.
[See Definition 2.91 in GB/T 5206-2015]
3.5
volatile organic compound
VOC
an organic compound that participates in atmospheric photochemical reactions, or determined in accordance with relevant provisions
3.6
volatile organic compound content
VOC content
the mass of volatile organic compound contained in coatings measured under specified conditions
[See Definition 2.271 in GB/T 5206-2015]
3.7
application condition
the condition that the application can be carried out after all components of the products are mixed when the application method and application criteria meet the requirements given in the technical specifications of the corresponding products
4 Product classification
For the purposes of this standard, the architectural wall coatings are classified into water-based wall coatings and decorative panel coatings. Among them, water-based wall coatings are classified into: interior wall coatings, exterior wall coatings, putty; exterior wall coatings are classified into effect pigments and other coatings. Decorative panel coatings are classified into water-based decorative panel coatings and solvent-based decorative panel coatings. Water-based decorative panel coatings are classified into synthetic resin emulsion coatings and other coatings, solvent-based decorative panel coatings are classified into coatings containing effect pigments and other coatings.
