The rules for naming model of optical fibre cables
1 Scope
This standard specifies the rules for naming model of optical fibre cables for telecommunication.
This standard is applicable to the naming of the model of optical fibre cables for telecommunication.
2 Normative references
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition (including any amendments) applies.

3 Composition of model
3.1 Model composition
The model consists of three major parts: type, specification and special performance mark (can be defaulted).
3.2 Format of model composition
The format of the model composition is shown in Figure 1. There shall be a space between the type code, specification code and special performance mark (can be defaulted).

4 Model composition, code and meaning
4.1 Type
4.1.1 Composition and format of type
The type consists of 5 parts, each part is represented by a code, as shown in Figure 2. The structural characteristics refer to the characteristics of the cable core structure and the derived structure of the optical fibre cable.

4.1.2 Classification code and meaning
4.1.2.1 General
By applicable occasion, optical fibre cables can be divided into several categories such as outdoor optical fibre cables, indoor optical fibre cables and indoor-outdoor optical fibre cables, etc. And each major category can also be subdivided into smaller categories.
When existing classification codes cannot meet the needs for naming new type of optical fibre cables, new characters shall be added behind the corresponding code to facilitate expression. The new characters added shall meet the following requirements:
——An underlined English letter shall be used;
