Gel-free optical fiber cables for outdoor application for telecommunication - Part 1: Stranded loose tube cables
1 Scope
This part specifies the product classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, instructions for use, packaging, transportation and storage requirements for stranded loose tube cables of gel-free optical fiber cables for outdoor application for telecommunication (hereinafter referred to as optical fiber cables).
This part is applicable to duct, directly buried, tunnel (channel), lashed aerial and other normally laid gel-free optical fiber cables for telecommunication. This part is not applicable to fully filled optical fiber cables, semi-dry optical fiber cables and micro optical fiber cables laid by air blowing.

3 Product classification
3.1 General
The optical fiber cables have their types, specifications and compilation models classified in accordance with YD/T 908-2011. Wherein, the code related to the characteristics of water blocking structure:
——(unsigned): gel-free.
The code added in relation to armor layer in Table 1 of YD/T 908-2011:
——8: non-metal rod armor.
3.2 Types
3.2.1 Common structural types and structural characteristics of optical fiber cables are as follows:
——GYFY: non-metal reinforcing member, gel-free stranded loose tube cable, polyethylene sheath;
——GYY: metal reinforcing member, gel-free stranded loose tube cable, polyethylene sheath;
——GYY04: metal reinforcing member, gel-free stranded loose tube cable, polyethylene jacket covered with nylon jacket;
——GYF6Y: non-metal reinforcing member, gel-free stranded loose tube cable type, non-metal wire auxiliary reinforcement, polyethylene jacket;
——GYFA: non-metal reinforcing member, gel-free stranded loose tube cable, aluminum-polyethylene bonded sheath;
——GYA: metal reinforcing member, gel-free stranded loose tube cable, aluminum-polyethylene bonded sheath;
——GYFS: non-metal reinforcing member, gel-free stranded loose tube cable, steel-polyethylene bonded sheath;

3.2.2 Applicable occasions of main types
See Annex A for applicable laying modes and special conditions for main types and derived types of optical fiber cables.
3.3 Specifications
3.3.1 The optical fibers in optical fiber cables shall be of Class B1.1 (dispersion unshifted single-mode optical fiber), Class B1.2 (cut-off wavelength shifted single-mode optical fiber), Class B1.3 (extended wavelength band dispersion unshifted single-mode optical fiber), Class B4 (non-zero dispersion shifted single-mode optical fiber), Class B5 (single-mode optical fiber with non-zero dispersion for wideband optical transport) and Class B6 (bending insensitive single-mode optical fiber for the access network) meeting those specified in GB/T 9771, or other classes of single-mode optical fiber as requested by users.
3.3.2 The number of optical fibers in an optical fiber cable should be 2~288, which may also be required by users.
3.4 Product model and designation
3.4.1 Model
The optical fiber cable model consists of the type code and the specification code of optical fiber cable.
3.4.2 Designation
Upon processing and ordering, the optical fiber cable shall be marked with a designation, which consists of the model of the optical fiber cable and the number of this part.
Example: The gel-free stranded loose tube optical fiber cable for outdoor telecommunication with non-metal reinforcing member and polyethylene sheath, including 48 Class B1.3 single-mode optical fibers, is designated as GYFY 48B1.3 YD/T 3350.1-2018.
4 Requirements
4.1 Structure
4.1.1 General
4.1.1.1 The optical fiber cable shall be composed of two parts: stranded loose tube cable core and sheath, wherein, the sheath includes sheath and oversheath (if any). Schematic diagrams for several gel-free stranded loose tube optical fiber cables are given in Annex B, and other structures meeting the requirements of this part may also be adopted.
4.1.1.2 The optical fiber cable shall be a full-section water blocking structure, that is, water cannot seep longitudinally in the cable core and sheath, except the steel wire armored part outside the sheath and the non-metal rod, tape and wire armored part.
4.1.1.3 The optical fiber cables of the same batch, type and specification shall have the same structural arrangement and the same identification chromatogram.
4.1.2 Cable core
4.1.2.1 General
Generally, the cable core includes central reinforcing member (including possible cushion), loose tube fiber stranded layer (including possible filling rope), possible binding yarn, wrapping tape and non-metal auxiliary reinforcing member, etc.
4.1.2.2 Optical fiber
4.1.2.2.1 The optical fiber in optical fiber cable shall be the same type of coated optical fiber, and the number of cores shall meet the requirements of optical fiber cable specifications. For the same batch of optical fiber cables, optical fibers manufactured with the same design, materials and processes should be adopted.
4.1.2.2.2 The surface of optical fiber coating layer shall be provided with full-color code, and its color shall conform to GB/T 6995.2-2008, and shall not fade or migrate.
4.1.2.2.3 The property of optical fiber used for cabling shall comply with relevant requirements of GB/T 9771.
4.1.2.3 Loose tube and its water blocking material
4.1.2.3.1 The loose tube may be made of polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) plastic, modified polypropylene (PP) plastic, modified polycarbonate (PC) plastic or other suitable plastic. PBT shall meet the requirements of YD/T 1118.1, PP shall meet the requirements of YD/T 1118.2 and PC shall meet the requirements of YD/T 1118.3.
4.1.2.3.2 The number of optical fibers in each loose tube should not be greater than 12, or more cores may be adopted as required by users.
4.1.2.3.3 The nominal outer diameter of the loose tube should be 1.7~3.2mm, and its tolerance shall not be less than ±0.1mm; the thickness shall increase with the increase of outer diameter, its nominal value should be 0.25~0.50mm, and its tolerance shall not be less than ±0.05mm. In addition, the nominal dimension of loose tube may change with the number of optical fiber cores in the tube, but the nominal dimension of loose tube of the same number of cores in the same optical fiber cable should be the same. Other nominal dimensions required by users are allowed.
4.1.2.3.4 The color of each coated optical fiber in the loose tube shall be identifiable, and the colors of 12 or less optical fibers shall be selected from various colors specified in Table 1. Color rings should be added if there are more than 12 cores, or binding yarn may be used to form bundles. The colors of binding yarns shall be selected from Table 1 for identification. Without affecting the recognition, it is allowed to use natural color instead of white color in Table 1.
