1 Scope
This standard specifies the main structure, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules as well as marking, packaging, storage and transport of automatic brake valve for derailment of railway freight car (hereafter referred to as derailment brake valve).
This standard is applicable to the manufacture and inspection of derailment brake valve.

3 Main Structure and Model
Derailment brake valve mainly consists of brake valve spindle, shrapnel, actuating rod, adjustment lever (pre-beam subassembly), valve body, and locknut and pull ring (see Figure 1). In case of vehicle derailment, the derailment brake valve will exhaust the pressure air in train pipe to atmosphere in an automatic and timely manner, thus bringing the derailed vehicle to a rapid stop and effectively reducing the loss caused by long stopping distance.
