This standard is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009 Directives for standardization - Part 1: Structure and drafting of standards.
This standard replaces QC/T 29082-1992 Specifications of automobile propeller shaft assembly and QC/T 523-1999 Bench test methods of automobile propeller shaft assembly.

Specifications and bench test methods of automobile propeller shaft assembly
1 Scope
This standard specifies specifications and bench test methods for propeller shaft assembly with cross universal joints (hereinafter referred to as propeller shaft assembly).
This standard is applicable to propeller shaft assemblies of light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles and vehicles retrofitted from them, and may be used as a reference for propeller shafts of mini vehicles and vehicles retrofitted from them.

3 Terms and definitions
3.1
propeller shaft assembly
rotating mechanism, consisting of shaft tubes or solid shafts with cross universal joints, or directly connected by two universal joints, which is used to transmit the power of the automobile
3.2
datum plane
mating face for mounting the propeller shaft assembly on the automobile, the position where the shaft and supports are assembled
3.3
standard state
state of propeller shaft assembly, in which the propeller shaft assembly is of the full load length specified in the technical requirements of the product drawings and placed horizontally and the included angle of the universal joint is 0°
3.4
rated torque
torque value specified by the design department of the propeller shaft assembly or the complete vehicle manufacturer based on the configuration of the complete vehicle,
which, depending on the parameter configuration of the complete vehicle, may be calculated based on the maximum torque of the automobile power source or the maximum adhesion, whichever is the smaller
a) If it is calculated based on the maximum torque of the automobile power source:

number of cycles at which the universal joint is worn and failed when a torque with a value of 65% of the rated torque is applied to the propeller shaft assembly at the specified installation angle
3.8
wear life of sliding spline
number of reciprocating motions at which the sliding spline surface is worn and failed when the propeller shaft assembly, with the expansion amount of the spline no less than 10 mm, is operated continuously under a torque with a value of 20% of the rated torque
4 Technical requirements
4.1 General technical requirements
4.1.1 The propeller shaft assembly shall be manufactured in accordance with drawings and technical documents approved via established procedures.
4.1.2 The U-joint cross assembly shall meet the relevant requirements of JB/T 8925.
4.1.3 As for the electric-welded steel tubes for propeller shaft assembly, the relevant requirements of YB/T 5209 shall be referred to.
4.1.4 All parts shall be cleaned and washed before assembly.
4.1.5 The surface of the propeller shaft assembly and the finished surface of the parts shall be free from burrs, bruises, rust, creases, distortion, cracks and other defects.
4.1.6 The welded parts of the shaft tube of the propeller shaft assembly shall be welded reliably, and the welds, apart from having a size meeting the requirements of the drawing, shall be smooth and uninterrupted, without defects such as false welding and slag inclusion.
4.1.7 During assembly, no missing or wrong assembly shall be allowed. The connecting fasteners shall be firm and reliable, and the tightening torque shall meet the requirements of QC/T 518.
4.1.8 For universal joints of plate type, the protruding part of the back plate shall be embedded in the groove on the outer end face of the bearing cup, and the fastening bolt on the pressing plate shall be locked with fixing locking piece; for universal joints of snap ring type, the snap ring shall be fully embedded in the ear hole groove or in the outer circular groove of the bearing cup.
