1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification, types and labeling, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of the couplers for rebar mechanical splicing.
This standard is applicable to the parallel threaded coupler, the taper threaded coupler and the coupler for squeezing sleeve splicing of rebars for rebar mechanical splicing in concrete structures. The couplers described herein are suitable for connecting rebars with the diameter of 12 mm ~ 50 mm that meet the requirements of GB 1499.2 and GB 13014, and this standard may be referenced for couplers for connecting plain rebars, stainless steel rebars and foreign rebards.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
rebar mechanical splicing
a method of connection that enables to transfer the force in one rebar to the other rebar under the action of the mechanical engagement of the rebar and the coupler or under the action of pressure-bearing action of the end face of the rebar
3.2
coupler
a steel coupler for rebar mechanical splicing that can transmit axial tensile force or pressure of rebars
3.3
threaded coupler
a coupler with threaded bore that may be connected with the rebar thread
3.4
parallel threaded coupler
a threaded coupler that has a parallel threaded bore
3.5
parallel threaded coupler for splicing rebars with upsetting end
a parallel threaded coupler that can be used for splicing with the thread in the upsetting section on the rebar end
3.6
parallel threaded coupler for splicing rebars with rib stripped before rolling of threads
a parallel threaded coupler that can be used for splicing with the rib-stripped rolled thread on the rebar end
3.7
parallel threaded coupler for splicing rebars with threads roll on to rebar end
a parallel threaded coupler that can be used for splicing with the direct-rolled thread on the rebar end
3.8
taper threaded coupler
a threaded coupler with a taper bore that can be used for splicing with the taper thread of the rebar
3.9
coupler for squeezing sleeve splicing of rebars
a coupler with an unthreaded hole that may be spliced with the ribber rebar by squeezing
3.10
standard coupler for parallel threaded splicing of rebars
a coupler that has the same right-handed parallel thread in the entire length
3.11
standard coupler for taper threaded splicing of rebar
a coupler that has the same right-handed taper thread on its both ends
3.12
standard coupler for squeezing sleeve splicing of rebars
a coupler that has the same inner diameter and wall thickness in the entire length and is used for squeezing a standard joint
