This standard is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces JB/T 3232-2006 Rolling bearings - Needle roller bearings for universal joints, and the following main technical changes have been made with respect to JB/T 3232-2006:
——The contents related to W type needle roller bearings for universal joints are deleted (see 4.1, 5.4 and 7.3.2 of Edition 2006);
——Post codes “PP” and “PP1” and their meanings are deleted (see Table 2 of Edition 2006);
——Some models are added or deleted and the dimensions of some models are modified (see Table 3; Table 3 of Edition 2006);
——The bearing model WY is changed to WY…ZC (see Table 5; Figure 6 and Table 5 of Edition 2006);
——Bearing models WY…PP are deleted (see Figure 7 and Table 5 of Edition 2006);
——The carbide grade requirements, metallographic structure evaluation method of carburized and hardened case and roller path surface hardness of GCr15 outer ring are revised, and the depth requirements of decarburization case after quenching and tempering of outer ring are deleted (see 6.1.1.2; 6.1.1.2 of Edition 2006);
——The requirements related to seal ring skeleton are deleted (see 6.3.2 of Edition 2006);

1 Scope
This standard specifies the symbols, coding methods, structural styles, basic dimensions, technical requirements, measurement methods, inspection rules, marking, rust prevention and packaging of cross-shaft needle roller bearings without inner ring for universal joints (hereinafter referred to as needle roller bearings for universal joints).
It is applicable to the production, inspection and acceptance of needle roller bearings for universal joints.

b: nominal width of outer ring.
b0: effective bottom thickness of outer ring.
b1: distance between the inner bottom surface and the stop groove of outer ring.
C: bottom plate groove width of outer ring.
D: nominal outside diameter of bearing.
D1: diameter of outer ring stop groove.
FW: inner diameter of needle roller group.
FWsmin: minimum single inner diameter of needle roller group.
H: width of outer ring stop groove.
L: bottom flat groove depth of outer ring.
M: center distance between two holes of cover plate.
r0: fillet radius of stop groove bottom.

4 Coding method
4.1 General
The code of needle roller bearings for universal joints consists of front code, basic code and post code.
4.2 Front code
Capitalized Latin letters are used in the front code to indicate the structural style of needle roller bearings for universal joints, as shown in Table 1.
