This standard is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces HG/T 4107-2009 Methanol synthesis catalysts. In addition to editorial changes, the following main technical changes have been made with respect to HG/T 4107-2009:
——The types of methanol synthesis catalyst are cancelled (see Table 1 of Edition 2009);
——Some contents in the technical requirements of methanol synthesis catalysts are modified (see Table 1 hereof; Table 1 of Edition 2009);
——Some contents of the test method are modified (see Clause 4 hereof; Clause 4 of Edition 2009);
——Some contents of inspection rules are modified (see Clause 5 hereof; Clause 5 of Edition 2009);
This standard was proposed by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation.
This standard is under the jurisdiction of Subcommittee on Chemical Catalyst of National Technical Committee on Chemical of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 63/SC 10).
The previous edition of the standard replaced by this standard is as follows:
——HG/T 4107-2009.
Methanol synthesis catalysts
Warning——Feed gas and off-gas (including CO, H2, CO2) for test involved in this standard have toxic, flammable and explosive hazards to human health and safety. Therefore air leakage of the system must be strictly prevented, open fire is strictly prohibited on site, and necessary preventive measures, e.g. fire-fighting equipment, exhaust equipment, etc. shall be provided. This standard does not reveal all possible safety problems. Users shall use it correctly in strict accordance with relevant requirements, and be responsible for taking appropriate safety and health measures.
1 Scope
This standard specifies the requirements, sampling, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, storage and transportation for integrated-production methanol catalysts (referred to as "integrated methanol catalysts"), high pressure methanol synthesis catalyst (referred to as "high pressure methanol catalyst") and medium-low pressure methanol synthesis catalyst (referred to as "medium-low pressure methanol catalyst").
This standard is applicable to methanol synthesis catalysts for producing methanol from coal, oil, natural gas (including oilfield gas), coke oven gas, ethylene off-gas and acetylene off-gas.

Note 2: The activity of integrated methanol catalysts is calculated by carbon monoxide conversion rate, and the value is expressed in %; the activity of high pressure and medium-low pressure methanol catalysts is calculated by methanol time-space yield, and the unit is g/(mL·h).
Note 3: Small particle size refers to 5 mm in diameter and 4 mm to 6 mm in height; large particle size refers to 9 mm in diameter and 5 mm to 7 mm in height.
4 Sampling
4.1 Laboratory samples
Prepare the samples in accordance with GB/T 6678.
4.2 Test specimen
Take an appropriate amount of laboratory samples into a porcelain mortar for crushing and grinding, and then sieve them with test sieves with pore diameters of 0.425 mm and 1.18 mm (in accordance with R40/3 series in GB/T 6003.1). Take specimens with particle size of 0.425 mm and 1.18 mm, and determine their bulk density according to the provisions of Annex A.
4.3 Test portion
Weigh the specimens of 2 mL (integrated methanol catalyst) or 4 mL (high pressure, medium-low pressure methanol catalyst) according to its bulk density, accurate to 0.1 g, for later use.
5 Test methods
5.1 Activity test method
5.1.1 Principle
Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and hydrogen in feed gas react chemically under the action of methanol synthesis catalyst to produce methanol. The chemical reaction equation is as follows:
CO + 2H2→CH3OH
CO2 + 3H2→CH3OH + H2O
For co-methanol catalyst, the conversion rate of carbon monoxide is calculated by analyzing the volume fraction of carbon monoxide in the gas before and after the reaction, so as to characterize the catalyst performance; for high pressure and medium-low pressure methanol catalysts, the time-space yield of methanol is calculated by analyzing the mass of methanol produced in a certain time to characterize the catalyst activity.
5.1.2 Test device
5.1.2.1 Process
See Figure 1 for the schematic diagram of methanol synthesis catalyst activity test device.
