GB/T 5584 consists of the following four parts under the general title Rectangular copper or aluminium and its alloy wires for electrical purposes:
—Part 1: General;
—Part 2: Rectangular copper and copper alloy wire;
—Part 3: Aluminium rectangular conductor;
—Part 4: Strip copper conductor.
This is Part 2 of GB/T 5584.
This part is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This part replaces GB/T 5584.2-2009 Rectangular copper or aluminium and its alloy wires for electrical purposes—Part 2: Rectangular copper and copper alloy wire, and the following main technical changes have been made with respect to GB/T 5584.2-2009:
——The technical requirements for copper alloy rectangular wire are added (see Clause 3 hereof);
——The performance requirements for semi-hard copper rectangular wire are added (see Clause 3 hereof);
——The performance requirements for springback angle of soft copper rectangular wire are added (see 3.5 hereof).

1 Scope
This part of GB/T 5584 specifies the technical requirements, test and inspection rules and delivery requirements for the rectangular copper and copper alloy wire.
This part is applicable to the rectangular copper and copper alloy wires for electrical purposes.

3 Technical requirements
3.1 Chemical compositions
The chemical compositions of rectangular copper and copper alloy wires shall meet those specified in Table 1, and the mechanical and electrical properties of rectangular copper and copper alloy wires shall meet the requirements of this part.

Note: In case of any special requirement for chemical compositions, it shall be determined through negotiation between the supplier and the purchaser.
3.2 Dimension and deviation
The dimension and deviation of rectangular copper and copper alloy wires shall meet the requirements of GB/T 5584.1-2020.
3.3 Tensile strength and elongation
3.3.1 The tensile strength and elongation of soft, hard and extra-hard copper rectangular wires shall meet those specified in Table 2.
3.3.2 The mechanical properties of semi-hard copper rectangular wires shall meet those specified in Table 3.
3.3.3 The tensile strength and elongation of copper alloy rectangular wires shall meet those specified in Table 4.

3.4 Bending
3.4.1 The edge b of hard, semi-hard and extra-hard copper and copper alloy rectangular wires shall be bent 90°, and the surface shall be free from cracks. The diameter of the bending cylinder shall be selected according to the dimension of edge a, which shall meet those specified in Table 5.
