Introduction
GB/T 37400 is widely used not only in metallurgy, mining, lifting, material handling, industrial vehicles and other industries, but also in the equipment manufacturing process of engineering machinery, petrochemical, nuclear power, wind power, large aircraft, rail transit and other industries. It is an important basic process standard in the manufacturing of large and medium-sized equipment in various industries in China.
GB/T 37400 classifies the main process stages in the manufacturing process of heavy machinery products, including material preparation, supporting inspection, cutting processing, assembly, painting, packaging, etc., thus constructing a relatively complete standard system, aiming to provide a basis for design, manufacturing, inspection, and acceptance for relevant production enterprises, business units, industry counterparts, and departments. GB/T 37400 consists of 18 parts.
——Part 1: Products inspection and test. The purpose is to ensure the quality of the parts of the products undertaken by each unit, and to ultimately ensure the quality of the whole machine.

——Part 7: Repair welding for steel castings. The purpose is to provide guidance on the repair welding process of defects in carbon steel, low alloy steel, and high manganese steel castings before precision machining.
——Part 8: Forgings. The purpose is to ensure the quality of important forgings in heavy machinery and improve the rules for retesting and judgment.
——Part 9: Machining parts. The purpose is to systematically and comprehensively propose technical requirements for machined parts.
——Part 10: Assembling. The purpose is to clarify the general technical requirements for geometric tolerances, assembly connection methods, typical component assembly, final assembly, inspection and commissioning, disassembly, etc. of assembled components.
——Part 11: Piping. The purpose is to achieve piping for oil lubrication, grease lubrication, hydraulic, pneumatic, and industrial water systems for different mechanical products.
——Part 12: Painting. The purpose is to clarify the coating technology requirements and testing requirements for heavy machinery products and their parts and components.
——Part 13: Packaging. The purpose is to clarify the packaging category, packaging materials, protection and fixation of goods, packaging requirements, and test methods for heavy machinery products.
——Part 14: Nondestructive test of steel castings. The purpose is to clarify the testing requirements for the welding repair area of steel castings, and provide users with corresponding measurement methods and acceptance requirements.
——Part 15: Nondestructive test of steel forgings. The purpose is to clarify the testing requirements for the welding repair area of steel forgings, and provide users with corresponding measurement methods and acceptance requirements.
——Part 16: Hydrostatic system. The purpose is to provide the implementation basis for the design, manufacturing, and inspection acceptance of the hydraulic system of current heavy machinery equipment.
——Part 17: Repair welding for steel forging. The purpose is to provide guidance for the repair welding process of defects in carbon structural steel and alloy structural steel before precision machining.
——Part 18: Opening gear drives system. The purpose is to provide technical guidance for the manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and operation maintenance of opening gears, ensuring their stable and reliable operation.
Heavy mechanical general technical specification - Part 18: Opening gear drives system
1 Scope
This document specifies the type classification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection as well as marking, packaging, transportation, storage of opening gear drives system. This document is applicable to the low-speed heavy-load involute opening gear drives systems used on cylindrical rotary equipment, such as ball mills, rod mills, autogenous mills, semi-autogenous mills, rotary kilns, cooling machines, drying machines, and drum mixers. It may serve as a reference for other rotary opening gear drives systems.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 3374.1 apply.
3.1
pinion
gear with fewer teeth in gear pair
3.2
Girth gear
gear with more teeth in gear pair
3.3
opening gear drives system
drives system, which is different from a closed gear box, consists of girth gears, pinions and lubrication systems supported by independent bearings. The rim of the girth gear adopts a closed structure, and the hub adopts an open structure
Note: the opening gear drives system has the characteristics of low speed, heavy load, large speed ratio and adjustable center distance, and its operating conditions, operating environment and lubrication conditions are poor.
3.4
contact pattern
engagement polishing marks distributed on the tooth surface of the assembled gear pair after running under the action of slight braking or load
Example: see Figure 1.
Figure 1 Schematic diagram for typical contact pattern
4 Type classification
The classification of opening gear drives systems is as follows:
——It is classified into opening spur gears and opening helical gears according to the shape of tooth trace;
——It is classified into two-petal, four-petal, and six-petal structures according to the structural form of girth gears;
——It is classified into flange installation method and spring plate installation method according to the installation method of girth gears.
